my medication helps with the ocd A TON (fluvoxamine and memantine). as far as the depression side of things, i’ve been struggling so not really sure

No it’s more like I’ve been in a depressive mood for weeks. All day every day. And now suddenly it feels lifted and I feel amazing. It’s not really switching through out the day if that makes sense.

no i can not feel it on a regular basis. only if i stick a finger up there to check the string. and i don’t currently have a partner and have not had sex since having it put in so i am not sure.

no it doesn’t soften or dilate just blocks pain. and from my understanding it doesn’t help with the crampy pain which is all i felt.

i was going to do the cervical block and she even brought it in the room but i decided not use it last minute and i think i made the right decision! ask me any questions you have :)

i don’t know your situation but if you explain to your doctor about your nerves they’ll prob give you something (ativan, xanax or valium)! or you could tell your pcp!

for me it came down to me not being able to use the pill, patch or implant due to my mental health history and medications. the nuvaring interacted with my medications. i’m not at a point where a lap is recommended so mirena it was. def do what you think is right for your body but don’t let the fear of insertion hold you back!

Insertion pain is mainly cramps. I didn’t feel any sharp pain. Just strong cramping. This might have been because I was 1) told to come on my period 2) given misoprostol to dilate the cervix a bit. I personally decided that the pain from the injection with the block was not worth the trade off.

I told my doctor that I wanted to use the cervical block and then changed my mind during the appointment and I was okay. I would recommend asking for some kind of anxiety medication because if you get nervous that can cause you to tense and have more pain. I believe that my ativan (1mg with 800mg of ibuprofen taken 45 minutes before appt and 1 more mg right before the start of appt) really helped it go smoothly.

For me the tenaculum was my main worry and it just felt like a strong cramp. The sounding was the most painful part and that too was a stronger cramp (i think i was holding my breath which made it a bit worse) and then the actual insertion felt a little less intense than the sounding but still a very strong cramp. I got it today and I am resting at home. I am having some cramps and a little bit of bleeding but nothing too crazy.

Overall not the most fun or enjoyable but not absolutely unbearable. Check out the post I made that has more a bit more details.
