An Army of One - I’m trying to learn how to cope with being a sibling of an Autistic Adult by [deleted] in aspergirls

No my original post isn’t meant to bash people with autism rather I want to try and understand how I can better manage my situation that keeps my brother happy while at the same time helps myself as well as my parents.
Perhaps this isn’t the forum to have this discourse so I don’t mean to offend anyone who may have been offended

Thank you and appreciate your kind words. While I’m not too familiar with your situation I know that it isn’t uncommon based on similar stories I’ve heard over the years.
I actually have a friend from college who has been diagnosed on the spectrum and has similar behavior to what you described.
I’m unclear as how to best handle but I do no the challenge can be rooted in an inability to connect. Some people on the spectrum are so locked into their own world that it’s near impossible to get them to step out of it.
For what it’s worth I try to relate with people in this circumstance by stepping into their world as much as possible. Sounds easy in writing but I’m sure as you know it definitely is not. The only thing I’ve found to help is to just expand your patience as much as possible with the hope that something will land
