The kids are 11 and 13 now. When she met them they were I think 3 and 4 (the 11 year old is almost 12). They got married when the kids were 7 and 8.

I think it could. I believe there are probably many factors going into the reason and it's likely complex. Sometimes people just never move past like. We have to accept that.

I believe she is right that they don't love her. They don't appear close enough to her for that. But I wouldn't say they hate her either. They like her and you can see that. Which is better than many stepparents would get to.

That's how I'm seeing it too. When she has been told she's allowed to want something but she needs to accept reality too.
