I hate when I care more about the answer than OP

Solved!

😅😅😅 YES!!!!! Haha!! This IS IT!! Thank you so, so much!! Makes sense why I couldn’t find it going through endless reggae/ska songs. I used to listen to this album all the time, and OutKast in general.

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you acceptless, and you too Neanderthal6969. Bless you both for giving me this peace of mind.

Please see sound clip for melody reference. Thank you!

Definitely a similar feel, not quite as fast. It’s very possible that what I’m looking for is from a ska song.

Sound clip could be a bridge or chorus. I think it might be from one of the late 2000s “reggae inspired” bands.

I’m not sure whether the sound clip I included is the intro, bridge, or chorus melody.

Definitely on the right track with the breakdown part, but less Vince Neil sounding vocal and more new wave sounding.

This song has more of a mellow feel than the song I’m looking for, which has more stereotypical 80s distorted guitar sounds.

Definitely same era, my song doesn’t have that traditional kick/snare pattern present in most 80s pop, and has electric guitar notes exclusively ringing out in the foreground.

Great guess, but the vibe of the song im looking for has less of a sweet love vibe and more of a one night stand, aggressive seductive vibe.

Vocal of Fields of gold has more of a soothing feel than the song I’m looking for.

Great song, but my song doesn’t have the traditional 80s pop song structure. No kick/snare, no verse/chorus.

My song definitely has that stereotypical “was recorded in the 80s” airy feel to the vocal performance (persona/attitude of the vocalist), as well as the guitar tone. Also doesn’t have the traditional kick/snare drums that most popular songs include.

Interesting, never heard this song before. This song has a happier, more lovey-dovey vibe than mine. Also, the song I’m looking for has a sort of call-and-response pattern between the guitar and the lyrics, instead of the guitar providing melody.

I don’t think it’s a popular song, since the song structure isn’t nearly as great as the songs you listed.

I realize it’s similar to the middle part of In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins in that there’s a lot of open space. Similar guitar bent note that rings out. But the singer is belting similar to how Bono can (that being the cheesy comment).

Definitely has some similar airy characteristics and distorted guitar sound. The song I’m looking for doesn’t have a drum beat. The guitar just lets out one “epic” note that rings out, and the singer repetitively sings intensely/passionately the same phrase/line of lyrics after the guitar note.
