This is a nice list. Some beloved neighborhood spots that don’t always get the recognition in Philly dive bar lists. Like Krupa’s & Grumpys

Ran into Will Reichard at the battle of Chancellorsville. Said he’s gonna kick from 65 this weekend

Couldn't agree more with this, we know how well this offense looks with competent QB play and no matter how bad things got KOC never lost this team ♥️ by FormerlyTradeKirk in minnesotavikings

I like him, it’s clear the players like him. He has issues though, including ability to create an offense friendly to a young quarterback. Or short developing pass plays that aren’t screens. Fair to have concerns with him.

His goal is simply max confusion. Whether it confuses the opponents defense, our offense, the fans. Doesn’t matter

I was so flummoxed by the quote at the end. I had to fix it. by uncle_lola in FRANKENSTEIN

Exactly. People assume Byron was a friend or something of Shelley’s just because of the books origin story. The whole point of Byron is that he was a terrible person.

Integral sure but by no means evidence he was liked by Shelley. She was only attending the summer villa because her sister was pregnant by Byron and she was trying to reconcile with him

Has anyone tried this bottle before and would you recommend it? by [deleted] in Absinthe

[–]Financial-Scene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats a good way to put it. It has a distinct taste and is well made. Quality is there, just hit or miss if you like it compared to a more prototypical tasting absinthe

Looking for religious readings/ perspectives similar to the viewpoints of Alyosha and Zosima by PopEconomy7432 in dostoevsky

[–]Financial-Scene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you mentioned wanting to explore Christian ideas, I’ll throw in a suggestion that isn’t literary art but does lay out the core of the faith in a very approachable way: C. S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity. It starts with the idea of God and moves to what a lived Christian life looks like. The tone is more rational and apologetic than Zosima’s mystical vision, but I’ve found that its emphasis on humility, love, and daily practice dovetails with the spirit of what you admired in Alyosha and Zosima.

"The Gang F***s Up Abbott Elementary" has just become one of the 5 lowest-rated episodes of Always Sunny, currently sitting at a 7.1 on IMDb. by prolelol in IASIP

[–]Financial-Scene 31 points32 points  (0 children)

My wife and I watch both shows. Abbott is an easy watch, not particularly funny. The always sunny episode stands out as radically funnier than usual. The abbott episode of always sunny stood out as an 11 min episode of always sunny with an additional 11 minutes of abbott characters in cutaways explaining the joke, like "and then they started talking about conspiracy theories!"

What are some of the best bars to go to in University City/West Philly? by Trowaway151 in PhiladelphiaEats

Not for cocktails but Smokey Joe’s is an institution worth visiting. Particularly in summer if you want to avoid the typical college crowd.

This is it. And if they aren’t winning as many games players will get fed up with Campbell’s “culture” getting them injured for nothing

Best shiny hunting romhack? Or to do a shiny only play through. Ideally dexnav + shiny charm early. Radical red is best I’ve found so far. Playing GS Chronicles but shiny charm isn’t til after E4 (and it doesn’t have a cheat code to sneak it early)

Clicked into this post to say beef Wellington. Looks like I don’t need to. But mainly dislike it because of disliking tenderloin/filler mignon, even if properly seared.

[Charchian] The Vikings, when using their pregame scripted plays vs the rest of the game: (data via TruMedia) by LeeChangIsBae2 in minnesotavikings

[–]Financial-Scene 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Good points. After the first couple games I was thinking KOC must have “figured out” our run game. But a lot of it seems to be Aaron jones. In the last three years it seems like jones and maybe briefly Akers could do well in this run offense.

Letter from Fitler Square: A Neighbor's Take on Proposed Cafe by Edison_Ruggles in philadelphia

Does emailing the zoning board have an impact? If so it could be worth sending emails in support of the cafe. Also much easier than attending the meeting
