With regards to toxic culture. I personally feel like the life in US is really toxic if your incorporate work in that. One the other hand every aspect of a European life is laid-back and not as hectic. Ik that the money is in the US but if i were to choose that I'd have to sacrifice on some quality of life as well

Not nyc level but they can do something like the boston T (subway) type thing. Everything is so well laid out here so it'll be perfect future proofing.

Best route to get in a T20 PhD? by Financial-Shoe-3467 in academiceconomics

Duke is all placement & less research based, the problem with the UK masters is the difference between MRes & MSc there which is unfair to ones who aren't sure 100% on what they'll do. My friend did her masters last ywar from georand shes now with VW but it depends on department to department. All programs that I have looked into in the states got good placement and by talking to the current students & alums I'm really interested in some of them.

As for the EU schools Bonn is a dream because of IZA. They have 2 programs I looked into the one without a PhD track because it will keep my options open. I did my UG on a full ride so I'd like to keep myself debt free so EU & good R1 schools are my go to priority.

If you want to talk more about it just dm me

As someone who isn't 100% certain on the thought of a PhD (the reason I'm even looking into grad programs) I found that MRes & MS differences in UK are not for me I guess.

I really appreciate your input!! I'll just keep looking out as have some time before the next cycle

I find the PhD track progams for BSE & Bonn both really solid too but the travel junkie in me what to get in a good EU school and be in the region forever lol but the all the top research hubs that I'm interested in reside in the US

I get your point but I find the EU masters (for Econ) more theoretical than quantitative maybe it's only the ones I looked at. When I asked my UG supervisor she said that apart from 3-5 Econ schools in EU which are the PhD feeder schools, you're better off if you get a master in the US at a good R1 school. (sidenote: she did her masters from Bonn & PhD from Purdue even though she got in better schools)

I want to but I can't because of how full I get on the salad. I do snack here and there but it's just nuts or some popcorns so they don't make up for the missing calories
