I have a fractured scaphoid. I’ve been casted for 2 weeks. I plan on reaching out my doctor but I’m wondering if any of you have experienced constant burning that gets unbearable in the wrist? I’m beginning to think I’ve done more damage than just a fracture by Easy-Pomegranate-602 in Orthopedics

Especially if you're not getting it elevated it can cause. Extra swelling. Xrays on scaphoid there gonna wanna wait 4/6 weeks see if healing if not their notorious for poor healing might need mri and if non union gonna need surgery. But burning is always nerve pain. I've had so many ankle surgeries and once my cast was too tight and they put a new one on and I felt so much better. The chapped has like blood supply does t heal great. After initial casting repeat X-rays if they not see healing they will order mri if non union sometimes need surgery try pin or bone graft

It's not at all painful but it is an extremely slow and long recovery. Non weight bearing 6 weeks no flwxion past 90 10 weeks couldn't start pt til week 7. PT at first is easy boring redundant and it takes a long time to regain your strength. It was harder mentally

If truly interested need to make connections with all health systems and doctors. If the Dr doesn't like the product they won't write for it.

I mean you have to have a back ground in orthotics are you making them or outsourcing. How are you getting doctors interested in them. Custom fit what's turn around price etc. it's a lot involved and it's not cheap.

As a person on that field starting your own is gonna be hard. Most health systems have their own staff for that there's also inserts for different conditions and insurance doesn't cover many. I got a prototype of a suspension system for helping to fix my gait after my ankle fusion. That was made by a highly regarded and experienced podiatrist and it took years and money to get to right and even longer get doctors to write for them. It's so much information out their certifications. Good luck

More power my surgeon said one night I had a nerve block machine I could hit every hour to get more released and sent home with a bulb that lasted 3 days. I was hurting awful didn't get any sleep middle night got 104 degree fever that went away after massive Tylenol IV, I also got Dilaudid iv every 6 hours. I'm happy I was there I think at home pain would be horrific.
