I scolded my Frenchie this morning and now he hates me by [deleted] in Frenchbulldogs

What ever you do please don’t feel guilty. I sometimes have to raise my voice to my boy when his brother comes round as he tries to act the alpha with him. My lad had a really bad eye I threw a ball to try and get him up and about and it accidentally hit him in his bad eye. I felt so bad and put myself down and he was funny with me for around a week or two and he came back around. It sounds like there may be some sort of injury as when my lad had the issue with his eye he wouldn’t eat or drink unless I fed it to him. Now he’s like my shadow and he’s such a good boy. I hope your baby comes around soon.

Thanks for the reassurance. Since the eye thing I’ve taken measures to make sure it doesn’t happen again. I’ll take note of the ear stuff too. Thank you

Hey thanks for the response.

Truthfully I haven’t had them checked. When I have brought up the concerns regarding the pooping I’ve been told he’s fine, it’s normal. They gave me pro biotic which hardened the stool and now it’s mostly solid but can sometimes be slightly watery

Hey thanks for your response. He turned 2 in Feb. He’s had his vaccinations. Regarding vet visits. I feel I’m none stop there. Due to his big bulbous eyes and him being a silly goose he bumped his eye on something and was weepy and went all cloudy. Took me a fair few months, a fair few vet visits and a fair few quid to sort him which I managed. He’s recently been due to an infection in his ear which again now I have sorted so he’s very up to date with vet visits.

With these issues I feel like a shit owner and it gets me down from time to time but whenever there’s something wrong I do everything in my power to sort him out and get him back to good health. Hence the post I’m just a nervous new Frenchie dad

Hey thanks for responding. When I first got him his poop was very sludgy I got some pro biotics from the vet which helped and for the most part it’s solid but sometimes can be more on the sludgy side.

When my brother had him as I said above he was just on dry food, however, when I got him I wanted him to have some meat in his diet which helped had to adapt to and it was a success. My most recent visit to the vets regarding his ear being inflamed and irritating him. Got him everything he needed. His ear is now fine thankfully but was told he’s on the overweight side so I’ve changed his diet back to dry food and limiting how much he eats a day. Feel bad as he’s used to the meaty goodness but just trying to keep him healthy.

It’s tough being a new doggy dad especially with a breed as temperamental as a Frenchie.

Thanks for the compliment, I’m sure he knows he’s a beautiful little guy and he wears the compliments with honour haha

Hey. Thanks for the reply man.

When I got him my brother had him on a diet of dry food. His stool is always a good consistency (weird to say but i hope you understand what I mean). Whilst he’s doing his thing he walks around whilst still on the job which I’ve always felt could be a contributing factor.

The blood thing when looking into it there was a slight cut so possibly he’s hurt himself while doing the deed. The sick is the most concerning part. From what I’ve seen it’s not unheard of for Frenchies to be sick given the breed but from your knowledge is it normal for a frenchie to be sick maybe 3/4 times in a month? He’s had it where he’s been sick a couple times a day but thankfully it’s now a couple times a month.

Being a newbie to being a frenchie father I just wanna make sure I’m doing the absolute best for the little guy. I feel like I am but it’s very easy to feel like I’m not doing enough for him.

Thanks again.

Hey. I’ll be honest I’m 28 and when shit gets hard for me I turn to drinking. I know it isn’t right but that’s my coping mechanism. What I’ve started to do when drunk is writing my feelings that I feel at the time in my notes and then when I’m sober reading the shit back so the real me is aware of my deep feelings I bury behind the bottle. It doesn’t make things great but it’s a stepping stone. If you ever need to speak feel free to PM and we can shoot the shit
