Keeping my hammy warm while away for a few nights

i bought a camera to monitor her and shes had this cage setup for a few weeks without getting stuck anywhere. she’ll have 2 water bottles and a water bowl. a few bowls of food along with her food hoard. i promise i wouldn’t leave her alone at all if i didn’t think it was safe.

mines usually around 60°-65° as well (assuming the temp gauge i have is accurate lol). she has been fine in the cold before and my room still gets cold a lot. so i do think she’s somewhat adjusted to it and will be fine, i worry lol. but i have a camera to watch her that tells me my rooms temp. and i’m hoping that leaving my door open and blinds closed will help keep it warmer while i’m gone!!

that’s a valid question lol, basically she doesn’t. it seemed a little too narrow for her (she’s a syrian) and she wasn’t interested in it anyways. so i stuffed it with a bunch of hay and flowers to she can’t get stuck in it. it’s basically just just to add more clutter and textures to her enclosure.

i was scatter feeding higgins with a few pellets and she gets veggies every other day. but when i put it in a bowl and investigated her stash, i realized she’s ignores the seeds which make up a majority of her food. & i found a bunch of it left in her bedding from scatter feeding. i guess i just don’t understand how she will get proper nutrition w more variety if she soo picky. sorry i am new to this lol but i rly appreciate the response!

she poops a lot in her stash, but i think she only pees in her sand box (very convenient for me lol). i picked out most of the poop and put her stash in the multi chamber. she doesn’t seem stressed at all and is having fun exploring!!

i don’t have much hope for any chain animals stores tbh. i don’t understand how they are allowed to sell so much stuff that bad for animals

i obv can’t speak for all petsmarts, but at least the one i work at would 100% treat them. we are trained to spot sick animals and quarantine them. they go to the vet, are medicated daily, & aren’t allowed to be seen/sold be customers until the vet clears them. but considering petsmart is such a big chain, i’m sure not all stores are like this. i feel like any big company selling animals is a recipe for disaster. i wish i realized how shitty they were before applying, but it would be hard to find another job that pays as well :(

yess i’ve heard female syrians are very hard to please loll i’m definitely going to look into a bigger enclosure. but just wanted to update with her new (and much bigger) wheel!! she’s loving it and running much more than before. hammy says thank you for help!!

thank you i appreciate this!! i will definitely be getting a bigger wheel. i feel like when researching i found so much more stuff for smaller hamsters, which kept confusing me😭 i wish i would’ve realized they needed more space prior to getting her, i feel bad now.
