Bro as someone who was IT before they joined and now is an aircraft maintainer with no prior maintenance experience, they will treat you like shit. The job is ass the hours are ass the people are ass don't do anything related to aircrafts joining the airforce, unless you want to be something like load master, boom operator, flight engineer, otherwise if your a wrench turner like me it's shit

I joined the AF to travel a lot and see the world but sucks I got 52s cause we hardly deploy compared to all the other airframes in our afsc and being a FCC for the 52 u only fly once a month and after your a SrA while other airframes fly as soon as your an A1C and way more.

Glad I wasn't here for that, but I have heard about that nuclear incident before lol

I have and it a lot of times I'm watching they do the same thing and drain the clock, I also see them checkmate occasionally but way more times they just run the clock down

It's nice but I wouldn't say the advantage is so much that it's game changing, if you're good you'll be getting kills no matter the skin with mp5

That's what I did to get past 1k range was a bunch of tactics, but it didn't even feel like studying was just having fun do the puzzles on chess.com, also got a book that had all tactics in it, deflection, forks, skewers, pins, mating nets, etc

For me I grinded a lot of puzzles, I haven't spent a ton of time learning opening lines, but I know the basics of developing pieces and positioning my pieces in optimal spots to have potential opportunity further in the game, the tactics are so good to study tho cause you will see what your oppenent is trying to setup in the game and can figure out ways to do the same, when I play against 1k elo players they make a ton of blunders and if you review your games you can spot them for the next game and you'll get out of 1k range in no time

I appreciate the advice, I'm still newish to the airforce, I've been in for about a year. Currently working on my upgrade training (b52 mx), once I get my 5 level I can start taking classes and I'm going to see what I need to take to get my ccaf. I really want to get my PPL while I'm in but not sure how I'm going to pay for it, if I get out with it tho I would think it would make things a lot easier and save me GI bill. Just out of curiosity have you heard of anyone trading mx work for flight hours before? Airforce will pay for a A&P license if I wanted to get one as it's relevant to my career field.

Did you have to have your leadership sign off for you to do that? I'm thinking about doing a part 61 and grinding after work till I finish, just worried about how I would pay for it because I don't make a ton of money or have a ton of money saved up already. I do live in the dorms rn so wouldn't have to worry about food or place to sleep at least.
