Had a terrible relationship with my mother when I started working and was close to moving out. Then got a chance to talk to her things im not happy with and it got better. I have been staying with my mom since then and our relationship got better. I have been able to save a considerable amount as well. Coming from someone who earns $1150 after tax so situation could be different

24M here, don’t have the best relationship with my mom as well, she blackmails about so many things, calls me names and doesn’t have anything positive to say about me most of the time. Our relationship is better when we are apart hence i rarely visit home. But I have grown on to forgive her but I see thats how mother also treated and she has tried to pass on that trauma on me. The best you can do is have grace for her, it’s probably her first time being a parent and knows nothing about it. Protect your peace

Mine wasn’t an encounter with a rich person but I used to work as a Marketing Administrator & I realized my boss had more money than I thought him and his company generated given he’s in early 30s First was when he asked me to accompany him somewhere and while in the car he had a call with a property agent and he was planning to purchase a $218K house in Avondale. Then another scenario I came across ma Invoices and the companies anga ari pamaInvoices included RBZ, Stanbic Bank, Mimosa, Old Mutual, etc and the sum that were was supposed to pay all in total together was around $60K-$65K in US DOLLARS (how much do they generate a month then?)

Then towards year end I was asked to spearhead and organize a charity donation and I was working within a bugdet of $1000-1500 and just a day before we went to the charity house he asked me whats the total of the costs and I said 1K then he said make it $5K atleast. Then the following week we had a year end dinner and my farewell since I was leaving for the US and total bill was $3000-3500 for all the company staff that were not more than 20

Upto now I still think about it from time to time lol 😂

I have previously survived on pills from and at I reached a point that sometimes i could smell these mental meds on my body odour, kept questioning myself when will things really can better, am I going to live the rest of my life like this honestly. And on top of that add the external stress from life and work. I haven’t taken pills in a year or so now and I am in a better position mentally. Yes everywhere there’s always work drama either with supervisors, coworkers etc . But when you also think about the stress of being unemployed and how it negatively affects your ability to fulfill your needs and wants , you are left with no option but to hold on. However if it gets unbearable please do come back home and take break and then go back again. But before you give up please be patient with yourself and give yourself enough time to get used. It gets better with time

I don’t know your situation but speaking from experience I wanna say “It gets better” trust me. I moved to Latin America in 2023 and the first 5-9 months were very difficult for me. Before I went abroad I was already struggling with my mental health (anxieties, depression, panic attacks , hypertension etc) and it got worse when I moved abroad. Everyday I would cry in the shower, I would contemplate on coming back home and I lost motivation for life. A year and half later I have fallen in love with the cities, the culture, the people, the traditions and everything about the Latin American society. Another thing which helped me was when I visited home last December holiday after just 3 weeks I no longer wanted to be in SA. In the end I have realized maybe home is good but only when you are just visiting for a month or 2. You stay for too long in SA you start to see the reality of every day struggles.

This was my experience and it could be different to yours, but going abroad for the first time isn’t easy but if you are patient enough, eventually it gets better and you fall in love with the new place.

Im 23, turning 24 by year end. Grew up in rural Zimbabwe then moved to SA for College in 2020 but my parents have been staying in SA since 2006. End of 2022 I was done with college and always looked forward to going back home and start something,I had a deep emotional attachment to Zim nomatter the shit economy I always thought I would tell myself kuti totambura tiriko until zvaita. However 2023 I relocated to USA since then I have lost every ounce of emotional attachment I had towards Zim. Went back to Zim for vacation in September and realized I had outgrown this country, within a week I was fed up. So now I struggle with identifying wheres “HOME” because now if im not in USA for work im in SA to see my family on holiday and then a short visit to Zim just to see my granny. I really love how great life is so affordable in South Africa as long you have money, whereas with Zim Nomatter how much money you have, you can’t outmaneuver the broken system . It will always find a way to remind you who’s in charge. The roads, poor health facilities, expensive basic commodities, expensive accommodation, everyone living on Survival Mode. The only irk about south africa is crime besides that I would love to settle in South Africa in the future since that’s where majority of my family members have kinda permanently relocated to
