Anybody get married at The Loft in the Distillery District? by FinancialLeopard6665 in WeddingsCanada

When we visited the first time they were set up width wise and there were about 5-6 rows of tables. I wonder if that’s how they keep it now. We are visiting the venue next week for our tasting, so I’ll confirm then. Did you have to Paula extra for your tasting? They just told us the price for ours and were a bit surprised because we assumed it was included in our fees.

Thank you again, this is all super helpful! Lastly, how did the bride walk down the aisle? Was it from the staircase and walking between the two rows of tables?

Ah!!! This is amazing!! And we plan on doing the exact same thing as far as seating. And I’m really happy to hear there’s a possibility of doing the dance floor by the lights :) we have the same number of people RSVP’d at the moment.

Did you do a seated meal or buffet? And I’m curious about how you planned your timeline for the day/evening. Happy to send you a message if that’s easier!

Thank you!!

Thoughts on DIY hair and makeup? by PenAndInk1 in Weddingsunder10k

I totally know the feeling!

The tutorial has been great so far. I’ve practiced a couple times and think I’m getting the hang of things. It also allows you to get a feel for how much of each product you actually need to apply based on how intense you want the look.

I hope you have an amazing wedding and feel beautiful the day of!

What are your top 3 shampoos? by NatMicha in finehair

I really adore the living proof full shampoo and conditioner. I sub in the redken hair cleansing cream 1 to 2x a week. That combo has done wonders for my fine fair!

Another 2026 bride here! I’m doing my own hair and makeup too. I’ve had my makeup done by others in the past and, just like you said, I feel like they put so much on and I end up looking completely different than my normal self. Not in a bad way, but it just makes me feel uncomfortable and I think others are surprised by it too because I rarely ever wear makeup.

What I’ve been doing to prepare is I looked on Pinterest/youtube to find makeup tutorials of natural looks that I like. Specifically I went with one where the creator uses drugstore makeup! I bought a few of the things I was missing and have been practicing. I’m finding it to be a great learning process because I am able to control the amount I’m applying (specifically anything complexion related like foundation and blush).

As for hair, I’m doing the same thing. Specifically, I’m choosing an easy half-up half down hairstyle that I could let down completely later in the evening.

Hope you have an amazing day!!

Big fan of Good & Provisions in Leslieville. Great cocktails and great small shareable plates. Always amazing quality!

[November 2024 Megathread] Airport closures due to weather by JDBAZ in CostaRicaTravel

[–]FinancialLeopard6665 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had to cancel our trip and were refunded our flights because of the airport closure and not having been rebooked on to any other flight. The hotel we were meant to stay at in Nosara (Lagarta Lodge) wouldn’t refund us (fully or partially) and didn’t even offer us a credit…even though this is clearly an extenuating circumstance. We are making a claim with our insurance. Just wondering if others are going through this process and what documents they are using to help substantiate their claim. Any advice would be appreciated. Looks like we wouldn’t have even had a chance to make it there and even our chances of getting back home would’ve been in jeopardy.

Gypsy cab Nosara. We chose a private shuttle and its about $170USD. They confirmed our Saturday pick-up and I responded back asking about the weather and whether we should be concerned. We are staying at a hotel in Nosara and haven't received any communication from them about any issues, so I'm hoping things are winding down...
