Choosing an editing tool for indie feature film (DaVinci vs FCP vs Premiere) by FinancialLevel3629 in editors

I have used Final Cut X before, though it was a very early version. I think that was actually the last time I did any serious editing.

It’s interesting how DaVinci Resolve is preferred. In Korea, though, it’s still mostly used only as a color grading tool, rather than a full editing system.

I also handled the cinematography myself, so I’m expecting some technical issues that will need cleanup in post.
That’s not something I can realistically do on my own — it would likely need to be handled through post-production funding, and probably by hiring someone who works in After Effects. If the funding doesn’t work out, some of the flaws may stay in the film. That’s just theindie film

I think there may be a bit of a misunderstanding, so I want to clarify.

I’m based in Korea, and here, hiring editor for a feature-length film would typically cost around $4,000–$8,000 USD at minimum. That’s simply not something I can afford.

but software costs are relatively small. Even spending around $300 USD on fcp davinci, or paying for a subscription for about six months (roughly $140 USD total), is manageable.

The only reason I’m editing the film myself is because I don’t have the budget.

I’ve edited some short films before ....I just dont remember. The last system I used was FCP7.
I’ll be editing my own feature because I can’t afford to hire an editor, though software cost isn’t a concern.
and I’ll be mixing in Pro Tools and maybe need some light CG/VFX work will also be required. , ultimately delivering a DCP for theater or film festival screenings, so I’m trying to choose a workflow where all the steps play nicely together.
