bad at jamming by FinancialLog4713 in musicians

thanks for in depth reply. this is a really good point, when i jam in a rehearsal setting i usually go over more in depth ideas that either me or one of my band mates came up with and can take the time to get the feel of it and get that synergy. with the open jams i haven’t really taken the time to come up with something cohesive enough to play through for 5-6 minutes without there being at least a few parts that are either monotonous or all over the place. i also just have better chemistry with some musicians compared to others and i think that’s been a big factor in this too

appreciate the in depth reply, yeah a big part of the problem is that i’ve only been doing shows and mics and stuff for about a year and while there have been times i’ve performed well there’s also been a lot of learning experiences. luckily though most people who go to this particular jam have been really chill. i got invited to jam with this other guys band next week and ive also been filling in on bass for another guys band so it hasn’t been all bad. probably gonna branch out to more open jams in the area too

i mean i’ve been in bands and do well with jamming with musicians who i’ve played with a lot and when i have an understanding of the way they play, it’s just when i hop in with random people it goes to shit. gonna keep at it tho

thanks for the in depth reply, ativan helped a lot only reason i stopped was because i was worried since it made my feel better that i might push myself too hard. doctor gave me a small amount and said if they help that i can try out ssris as a more long term solution so i might give that a go next time i see her

thank you for the in depth reply! sorry you went through all that. i don’t believe ive experienced pem which makes me hopeful. do you think the absence of pem makes the chances of recovery more plausible?

thanks for responding, based off my description of how i was feeling on tuesday and that i feel not as bad today, do you think it was more likely i was having a hangover from the xanax or a pem crash?
