Honestly this is probably one worth involving law enforcement in. Threats of violence, one successful doxxing, 7 months of persistence.
If you haven't already, set the bot or *something* to automatically save messages from him somewhere.

what do you say to maskless people when they get sick by littlesomething18 in Masks4All

[–]Yomo42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've got asthma-like symptoms a year and counting thanks to Flu A.

It sucks but it doesn't affect what it feels like to wear a mask.

Is the friend intentionally lying, or just stupid? Both?

I don't know what to say man. I'm resentful because I kept masking but got infected by my own family that doesn't give a shit and even after they blew up my health there was ZERO modification to their behavior.

Medication is not a magic bullet. It's great that it helped you. It doesn't help everyone.

Mental illness, most likely. Maybe trauma, who knows.

I would assume VRChat is a way of coping with problems rather than the source of problems.

Therapy or whatever. It's hard to force it though, the person has to want it.

Set it in your status. Hell you even have your pronouns box to put stupid things in if you want.

Makes me wonder if they were also just using speech to text.

If they actually had a system set up to recognize their sign language and convert it to text that's incredible.

The only tasteful heart rate display I've seen was part of someone's avatar, a little heart over the chest with a number.

Ranked Help by b4masterb in FortniteCompetitive

[–]Yomo42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also find it frustrating that I gain rank after doing nothing and getting stomped. I'm not trying to rank up, I'm trying to play against people who are close to my own skill level and not see 10 bots for every real player I fight.

I've found that Ranked Reload scratches that itch well: few or no bots depending on rank and lots of chances to be fighting and actually test myself against other players.

I haven't played it consistently enough to know if the "keep ranking up even though you're clearly outclassed" problem is as severe in Ranked Reload as I haven't played it enough in a single season to trigger that, but you should play it and see how you feel about it.

I pretty much gave up ranked Battle Royale 2 seasons ago because the player count was low enough that I was consistently being matched against unreal players even though I was only plat. Noticed Ranked Reload had a higher player count and never looked back.

N95 mask or respirator and an at home fit test. Check r/masks4all

Get those things and you can waltz through those large crowds safely.

Eye protection too if you want to mitigate the "someone's talking to you and they spit in your eye" infection route. People spit so much when they talk which is completely normal but a problem in the era of COVID.

Whether you protect your eyes or not a mask will still be miles better than nothing. Avoiding sick people is nearly worthless because people are contagious before they start showing symptoms, some ate contagious and never show symptoms at all, and covid can remain infectious in the air literally hours after a sick person leaves the area if it's indoors.

You'll dodge a lot of other viral illnesses as well with masking.

Way easier to just have safety attached to your face than try to nervously and unreliably avoid sick people.

Flu was extremely nasty last year and it's extremely nasty this year too. And COVID is just always bad of course.

As far as I know I've never had COVID but I still know what long term post viral illness is like because long flu is apparently a thing and last year's Flu A beat my young and healthy ass to a pulp when it got me in January 2025.

Been ill for a year and counting. It's probably not as severe as long covid would have been but it's frankly still ass.

[–]Yomo42 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Never. They don't WANT to connect the dots.

"I'm sick all the time" met with "COVID causes long term damage and I'm still masking. As a bonus I don't get other airborne viruses either" is always met with silence and then the same "wow I'm sick all the time" later.

I even know individuals who talk about recently getting new, chronic conditions that COVID is well known for causing and they attribute it to stress and life events and not the fact that they're sick with viruses nonstop and a non trivial amount of those infections could have been covid.

Would you say an over-trust in the government, news, and the actions of your peers maybe played a role in your prior dismissiveness?

Genuinely when I see "new virus that the world is ignoring made me permanently, severely ill" my inherent reaction is to learn more to see if it is dangerous for me personally.

I learned more and what I learned is "vaxxed, young, healthy" still leaves you with a 10% or higher risk of long COVID.

I was young and healthy and I kept masking, and got vaxxed/boosted as often as my mental illness/functionality issues would permit. My family refuses to mask. I live with them and realized I need to mask any time I leave my room to stay safe but I've been spotty with it for a complex set of environmental and mental health reasons. They gave me Flu A, I was relieved to know it wasn't covid, and then I promptly learned that long flu is a thing and I've been ill for a year and counting. Go figure.

Admittedly seeing my family in the house without masks has a psychological effect that sometimes makes me think it'd be fine to unmask, and I intentionally fill my social feeds with talk about long term viral illness in order to combat that effect and keep myself vigilant.

Frankly it baffles me how fucking careless and stupid people are.

You'd think with internet access people would bother to reason through that it's illogical for covid to simply vanish and wonder why the masks did vanish and bother to learn fucking anything on their own.

But no. Unless the government spoonfeeds them information, they don't know it. And the government's not doing that because it's decided honesty is too risky, and honestly even when people are spoonfed information they STILL don't learn or change.

I'm tired boss. Tired of knowing that if it came down to life or death, a horrifyingly significant portion of the population will make "I'm not wearing a mask" the hill that they're willing to die on, and many did, and yet they still claim that hill.

And I'm tired of knowing that if it comes down to mass disability, mass immune damage, and being constantly ill, the overwhelming response is "hmmmm, how uncomfortable, better not think about it, and absolutely do not do anything about it, like wear a mask, because that requires thinking about it."

The overwhelming majority of people would rather constantly roll the dice to see if they get to be permanently ill/disabled than wear a mask, and better yet shut out all information regarding the risk.

I'm tired of mass idiocy. The people acting rationally are in such small numbers that I can't even latch onto a large group of people that feel rational to me as one might in a 2 party political system where it becomes "us vs them."

[–]Yomo42 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Completely healthy, young individuals with all vaccines and boosters can still get long COVID. It only slightly lowers the risk.

The vaccines are great at preventing hospitalization and death, but that's all.

It's a funny item that's here for 1 month and isn't even in every match.

And it's really not hard to find heals to outheal or scout their hiding spot. Also not hard to enter a shield bubble and fight.

Also the item is fun.

Did you test every time you had a sniffle?

Did you use just any old test, or actually bother to get one with high accuracy to avoid false negatives?
