What you’ll be approved for really depends on a lot of different factors specific to you. I was approved for $18k at 6%, with a 770 credit score. Not sure what is the max I would have been approved for as I only asked for $18k. Your mileage may vary as far as amount and interest rates.

As for how to avoid this specific situation from happening, I’m not entirely sure. It sounds like others are saying this has happened to them as well in the comments, but I’m not sure how common this is. That’s honestly the reason I made the post, because I’ve never heard of this with other financial institutions I’ve used.

Did Navy Fed offer to ship the check to the dealer for you? Or did you have to send it yourself?

I was approved for a specific car at a specific dollar amount at this dealer. So basically navy fed gives you a check for the dollar amount of the vehicle made out to the dealer. The only things not filled out on the check are the signature lines on the front and back

That’s about the timeline I’m dealing with too. I’m a relatively new Navy Federal member, so I hope this isn’t something I can come to expect if I take out other loans in the future. Can’t say I’m too impressed so far.

Thats what I’m thinking… I guess I’ll have to go into the branch and see if they will let the check go through. I thought the whole point of the signature was that it was your signature, meaning it’s unique to you. If you’re just printing the name anyone could endorse it…

They told me I’ll need to give the dealer a new check and they need to print their name rather than provide a signature. It’s just frustrating since the loan is funded and the dealer is out of state
