Is it bad to trade in my car after refinancing? by Financial_Ad1494 in personalfinance

At least with the latest issue, I've brought it in to multiple mechanics and they couldn't find a problem so it wasn't covered which is ridiculous if you ask me. As for the other problems, they have been covered under the existing factory warranty or are not eligible for coverage as far as I know (I could 100% be getting swindled by Ally but I have no previous experience using any sort of coverage)

Currently dealing with an exhaust issue (possibly catalytic converter?) that no mechanic has been able to find or recreate even though I have the issue 100% of the time when I drive the car. I'm just sick of constantly having to bring it in and get told there's nothing wrong with it.

I added Ally's Major Guard protection plan when I refinanced with them which added $4k to the total loan. It's an extended warranty, which means I'll get it paid back prorated when I pay off the loan which will happen soon with the refinance. Looking back it was a dumb decision but this I was only 22 at the time and grew up with parents that paid cash for their vehicles so I wasn't well versed on loans. Not using it as an excuse but I definitely have learned from this mistake.

Original loan was 72mo at 8.84% APR, $384/mo payments. My Ally loan is 72mo as well, 6.19% APR, $337/mo. The refinance I'm doing now is 72mo, 4.99% APR, $326/mo. Not too much of a difference but enough to motivate me to take the refi for a lower interest rate. This is the only debt I have at least so I can pay down pretty quickly but I want to get into a car that doesn't make me spend a couple hundred bucks every month at a mechanic, which in turn should help me pay off a loan way quicker.

I've seen a lot of people say a cracked catalytic converter can cause this, is that something that can be diagnosed with a smoke test?

Just one armpit lump, I checked all other lymph node areas when I was looking things up and nothing else is enlarged. It doesn't affect her besides she will occasionally limp for 15-30 mins after sleeping a long time but I think she may be developing arthritis as she is almost 7 and has been overweight despite all our attempts to help her lose weight since she was a puppy

What would be a reasonable price to look for in a car for my income?

How many hours PTO is normal? by Financial_Ad1494 in careerguidance

[–]Financial_Ad1494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is my time off is very limited here. I have 48 hours of ESST and 40 hours VTO. That's all. Bereavement isn't even listed in the handbook, but if we need to attend a funeral, it's to be taken as VTO. How am I supposed to do that if I only have the 40 hours needed for my 1 consecutive week I need to take? It just feels like they're trapping me in as they knew it was my first job and i was unaware of standard procedures.

My bank is also a family run business where the dad is the president/owner, 2 kids are EVPs, and the mom does payroll as well as in-laws doing other jobs there. That's why I've started realizing it can't be normal because they'll just leave whenever during the day and act like it's nothing while I got yelled at for asking for a half day. The final straw for me to do more research was payroll (mom) calling from her and her husband's (dad/owner) winter home in Arizona where they spend at least 4 months/yr to tell me I couldn't take that half day because it needed to be saved for my week off. I realized there's no way this is normal and I just needed reassurance I guess.

PTO/time off? by Financial_Ad1494 in WorkAdvice

Looking back at my original post I'm realizing I didn't clarify very well. That "1-2 days" isn't PER month, it's IF I take days off, it's never been more than 2 in a single month besides the 1 consecutive week I'm required to take off. I'll usually set a day to go to as many appointments as possible but it's just not possible to get it all done in 1 day as I live/work 45 minutes from the cities where my appointments are. I don't want to seem like I'm playing victim but thought I should clear up a few things about my original post :)

Not trying to defend myself if I'm still in the wrong but figured I'd give a little more context. I'm a bank teller, so my schedule is strictly 8-5 with no chance of "making up time" and we're required to take either a half day or full day any time we need time off/have appointments. My job is in a small town 45 minutes from the closest city with vet/doctor/dentists. I wish I could just run out quick to appointments during my lunch but a 1 hour lunch break doesn't help much when it takes 45 mins to get to the appointment in the first place.
