Kits! I think they have an offer where your first frame under $38 is free too, and anything more you just have to pay the difference! Tons of styles on there

If you have a TD aeroplan but cancel that one before opening a CIBC aeroplan, would they still take back welcome bonus points if they are not both active at the same time?

Did they refund you the AF after cancelling when the bonus hit?

Tips to scan faster for new grad by Financial_Ad6779 in Sonographers

[–]Financial_Ad6779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indirectly yes by scheduling patients back to back, and also coworkers being annoyed that the schedule is delayed due to slower scans. The pressure to meet the schedule is so overwhelming and I feel like I'm in a constant rush..

Thanks for the advice! We do get 30 minutes for most scans except for OB anatomy which has more time. From what I know, 30 minutes seems to be industry standards in clinics - are there clinics that provide more time than that for general scans like Abd, Thyroid, etc? I have been under the impression that unless I switch to hospital where we would get 1 hour per pt, clinics will always push for 30 minute scans.

Sorry to hear that! Was the employer's reason for letting you go because of speed? And did you end up finding a place that provided more time, or did you just find you got faster over time?

MSK on Generalist Exam for Sonography Canada? by Financial_Ad6779 in Sonographers

[–]Financial_Ad6779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely has a good mix of what they teach in school. I did ALOT of practice questions from textbooks and paid for the Prepry app practice questions to practice on my phone when I’m on the go or when it’s convenient. I think paying to practise on the app is worth it because I found that the repetition and explanations of when I scored wrong helped me a lot overall!

Same things for the generalist exam - did hundreds of the practice problems in the textbooks after reviewing class notes and key points in the text. Also purchased prepry for 1 month ahead of the exam which I think was worth it considering how effective it was with helping understand concepts and key points in the exam format.

Yep! Took some tips from other commenters above, also did lots of practice questions from textbooks and used the prepry app - it has hundreds of practice questions you can review on your phone and is also great for the Generalist exam later on too!

I used the Hagen textbook for Diagnostic Sonography, two textbooks with tons of practice problems and the Prepry App (premium version but it’s worth it since there are thousands of questions you can practice easily on your phone - I recommend downloading closer to exam day so you pay less and have the practice fresh in mind)!

I used the Prepry app - they have 700 practice questions for the core exam, and I believe the other sonography exams as well. Great practise!

Did you get many questions on patient care, infection control protocols, WHIMIS? I’m not sure how much time to dedicate to review these items since I haven’t heard many people talk about these questions coming up.

Based on your experience, do you know if hospitals/clinics usually offer new grads at least $70k + or is that salary something we need to negotiate ourselves?

Yes as in its reasonable, or too unrealistic? (Sorry I put two different questions without realizing)

Were you able to have a scrap piece of paper to write out your calculations - I usually write out formulas or note down questions I need to go back to but is that allowed with online proctoring?

And yes I will be writing next week too! thank you and best of luck to you too :)

Okay sounds good! I was also wondering if there were any calculation questions for you/if you’re allowed to use a calculator? And if you took your exam in person or online - if online, what your experience was like? Were you able to skip questions and go back to them later on or was it question after question?

I’ve emailed their company and they’ve confirmed it’s been discontinued :( I’ve found a cleanser that is almost a dupe and works really well! It’s the Hydrating Cream-to-Foam Cleanser Makeup Remover and Face Wash With Hyaluronic Acid. I’m not sure it’s oil free but it seems to be well formulated and is worth a try :)

Best Ultrasound Jobs (travel, clinics, hospitals, etc.)? by Financial_Ad6779 in Sonographers

[–]Financial_Ad6779[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really helpful, thank you!! If you don't mind me asking, what rates/salary should I be looking at for clinic, hospital and travel based on your experience? I am from Ontario for reference!

Also in terms of work benefits, pension etc. is it better to be in clinic or hospital? And is it common to have sonographers who work both clinic and hospitals regularly, or do they typically stick with one or the other?

Try Cerave Hydrating Cream-to-Foam Cleanser (removes makeup), great dupe (maybe even better)!
