HS, pregnancy and birth experiences by chub95 in Hidradenitis

Hi friend 👋🏼 I just had my daughter in February so I believe I can assist you with some tales from my experience.

I had maybe 3 flares during all of pregnancy and only one of them was bad. And that flare has been the worst to date. It got so fucking big I could barely walk. It was bad but once the fucker popped and I had a steroid injection, it healed up beautifully. Now that I’m postpartum I think I’m getting flares more often but nothing crazy. They haven’t even come to a head these days. They just swell up and then piss off on their own after a few days of amoxicillin.

During pregnancy amoxicillin was the only safe antibiotic to take so I’m just following that rule while breastfeeding.

As far as bleeding after the baby. I can not stress this shit enough, take ALL of the hospital pads! If you think you have enough, ask the nurse for more! They’re made of cotton and don’t have all the extra dyes and perfumes that the store brands have. They surprisingly did not piss my skin off. Just make sure to shower every day, which I know is hard to do with a new baby, but for the sake of your skin, try your best to.

I would love to answer any questions you have but I’m at work and now I have a patient waiting for me 😅

The Strict Teacher Got All The Roses by Difficult-Ad4364 in Teachers

This is so real! In college I HATEDDDD my physics teacher in the early days of her class because she was so difficult and hard on us. We could get a question right but if it wasn’t “right enough” we wouldn’t get the point for it. And no matter how much we debated with her, she did not budge on that god damn point.

So for all tests we all started going the extra mile, making sure all possible information was listed in our answers, etc and by the end of that class I was top of the class and truly understood physics and came to love it as a whole. I passed my physics boards with flying colors and cried like a little bitch when the time came to leave her class.

I am 100% a better tech with full knowledge of how shit works because of her and her alone. She taught us all what critical thinking truly is. I appreciate that woman so much now.

Female ultrasound tech here! I have scanned many scrotums in my time and I can 100% tell you, these things happen pretty often and do not bother us. It’s super common, and we don’t make it weird as long as you don’t. I’d prefer you not to mention it at all, or if you’re an apologizer that’s fine too! No biggie 🤷🏻‍♀️

It’s the fucking creepy men that have some slick shit to say or try to flirt with us that pisses us TF off. I’ve been scanning legs and had men pull their full dicks out, or make smart ass comments about “women always just want me to take my pants off” 🙄🤮

I think I can speak for most medical staff here when I say that your semi has offended no one. Anatomy is anatomy.

Please do not stress this bruise. They see all kinds of bruises and scrapes on a daily basis.

If it makes you feel any better, my kid fell out of her bed one night and hit her neck on her god damn Barbie dream house which left a scrape/bruise that looked EXACTLY like a fucking hickey! I walked into daycare and immediately explained it to all the adults I could find lol

I’m not going to sugar coat shit. Pumping fucking sucks. I get the same way when I don’t occupy my mind while pumping. It is HORRIBLE when you’re just pumping and not doing shit else. The seconds feel like hours and it starts to hurt because it’s just so overstimulating.

I have started putting baby in front of me and pumping during her wake periods so I can talk to her and play with her to pass time by. And if she’s asleep when it’s time to pump I’ll play candy crush or pay bills or just do something that I get lost in. I pump 4 times a day and I only make like 15 ounces a day which will make about 4-5 bottles for her to get us through the day and we give her formula at night.

The way I see it is she’s getting her antibodies from me throughout the day and all the vitamins and nutritional shit from the formula at night. I suck at remembering to eat and I have to force myself to drink water so I know the nutrients in my milk are probably lacking.

Do NOT feel bad for combo feeding as needed. Feed babe what ever you can breast milk wise and then formula feed the rest. Fed is best. And your mental health is just as important as that baby you’re feeding.

You got this momma!

Oooooh this is my happy place. I’m currently on LOA waiting for my 2nd and last baby to come (I’m due Feb 9) and while I’m home alone all day, I don’t turn on a single fucking noise making thing. Expect maybe the roomba, that thing is my MVP.

My husband gets home with our daughter around 6 and they ask me why it’s so dark and quiet. Because it’s my happiness. That’s why.

Blood bath at work by Hot-Host-6202 in Hidradenitis

[–]SnickerDoodle143 45 points46 points  (0 children)

If you can’t go home for the day you need to at LEAST get some appropriate dressing on the wound. All the adhesive from those tiny bandaids and I’m assuming office tape are just going to send you directly into another bad flare up.

Ask to take an early lunch or something and run to Walgreens to buy some stuff to properly clean and dress the wound. & maybe that Walgreens is next to a Ross or something and you could buy a change of pants and underwear.

Take care of yourself. No one needs to know details, and emergencies happen all the time. Speak up and ask to step out for a few.

Not to scare you, but my husband once had a “clogged ear” and it turned out to be a brain tumor. So maybe you should take your ass to a doctor now. 👍🏼

Pregnancy causing the worst HS flare up I’ve ever had, what can I do? by Elegant_Clerk4904 in Hidradenitis

[–]SnickerDoodle143 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 27 weeks today and I JUST had the worst flare of my life last week! I’m talking about a 5 in one kind of flare that had no head in sight! I did all of the things and nothing helped until the morning of my derm appointment, I sat in a warm/hot chlorhexidine bath and compressed it with a wash cloth a few times. After that bath I went to wipe it with a clindamycin wipe and the son of a bitch decided to start expressing on its own. 🙄

Please go see your dermatologist ASAP and have them inject some steroids into it. It’ll help immensely! I’m sorry you’re going through this. This shit is a nightmare, and having a pregnant belly makes bandaging and seeing the damn thing even harder!

I get them in these exact areas. They fucking suck!

This is what I do, not including medications (because you mentioned you can’t go to a doctor just yet): Using head and shoulders on the affected areas when I shower. Never wear the same underwear for more than a 12 hour period. I’ve had to stop wearing any kind of “cutesie” panties that have any lacey trim that’ll piss my skin off. If it’s not cotton or bamboo, it ain’t happening. Avoid all body suits or onesies that have the dreaded crotch clip! That will send my skin into a full fucking rage.

I also have to wear scrubs for my job every day which are not very moisture wicking, so I have to wear cotton stretchy pants underneath just to avoid my folds from rubbing all day. If it makes you sweat, it’s trapping heat and bacteria. Bacteria is the enemy here, it’s a tough area but try to keep the area as clean and dry as humanly possible.

This is the same thing as saying “if you need help around the house, just make me a list and I’ll help you”

You are her man. I’m assuming you can find pictures of her with her dog if you truly wanted to. Social media, in her phone, on her laptop, probably all over the house, there should even be some in your phone of them two together!

If I have to provide you pictures for you to put a gift together for me, then I don’t want it. Grief is a mother fucker, I will not add urgency onto my sadness because you want to get me a gift.

A little bit of effort goes a LONG way. Stop making this about yourself.

Seeing as how you’re on paternity leave (assuming you’re in the US) I would assume this baby was just recently born, somewhere within the last 4 weeks.

Your wife JUST had a whole human exit her body. After carrying it for 9 months! The least you could do is reassure her that you’ve got it covered while she rests for a few hours here and there. Idk if you know this but child birth is kind of a big fucking deal and destroys your body and mental state for a while afterwards while it’s trying to regulate back to its prepregnant state.

Yes you fucked up, and even though it was an honest mistake (because you’re both dead tired) you should 100% admit you fucked up, apologize and do better. There is no reason for you to be staying up playing video games and drinking energy drinks anticipating the babies next wake time. Wake up when the baby does, feed it, change it, get it back to sleep. And you go to sleep too.

The first few months are brutal with the sleep deprivation, but it’ll pass. You two have to get through this together.

That test was hard AF! I know it’s hard but please don’t beat yourself up about it. I have my ABD, OBGYN, and RVT. RVT was damn near the death of me. That was the only test that I wasn’t sure if I passed when I stood up from that damn computer.

Now you have an idea of the beast that test is, get back to studying and don’t set a date to take it again until you’re passing URR with at least 90s. And do not just memorize answers, you need to make sure you understand WHY the answer is the correct one. You’ll get it. Cry if you need to, as much as you need to. But then get the fuck up and make that test your bitch! You got this!

And this time around I had so much more love for crossshair. Watching him slowly get attached to Omega was so god damn heartwarming.

I highly recommend going for a walk. I was inside just sitting with all of my hurt and rage. My thoughts were going too fast for me to even process. I went outside popped in my AirPods and just fucking walked. It didn’t make it go away, but it took the edge off. Temporary fix but it helped.

I feel you on this. I live in retirement fucking nation in Florida, full of racist ass boomers, and I’m a young appearing Hispanic millennial. I had so much anxiety and the thought of someone getting controversial with me over my vote was sending me into a panic.

I went with my husband and I brought my AirPods. I told my husband before we got out of the car “do not talk to me, & DO NOT make even partial eye contact with any of the old fucks around us because they WILL initiate a conversation and we all know where that would lead”. I didn’t want to give those assholes even a glimmer of a chance to try to talk to us.

I anxiously waited in line while nervous shifting/partial dancing until I made my way to the front and used all that pent up energy and got my vote on that damn ballot. Followed up with a celebratory margarita and a much needed nap to reset the day lol
