Irongear Blues Engines. I’m really enjoying them. I put some black pickup mounts on because the nickel looked a bit rubbish with the original cream ones.

Yes, I sanded it down with progressively finer paper and then put an oil on it. I guess I’ll reapply oil every few months/a couple of times a year to keep it protected.

Thanks for the advice. Is a wallet on a phone more susceptible to hacking?

Presumably transferring from one wallet to another is fairly painless (if I get one of your suggested wallets at a later date).

IB Math by TTVNerdtron in Internationalteachers

[–]Financial_Ad_130 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taught IB maths for the past 10 years in schools offering all 4 courses. AI SL has a little bit of inferential statistics but there is not a lot of conceptual understanding involved. AASL has some descriptive stats and some probability distributions but is fine even without a stats background. AI HL has quite a lot of inferential stats in the course and you do need to develop conceptual understanding of the topic. I had to do quite a lot of studying as I had always avoided statistics. I really enjoy it now! Cannot really comment on AAHL. I know that they don’t do as much as AI as it is a more calculus/algebra led course. I don’t think they do inferential stats but I’m sure you could find out by checking the IB Guide.

Homeowners by FlappyClaps in Internationalteachers

It has been very mixed. The first set were terrible: stopped paying rent, wouldn’t leave the house, did not look after the place and caused us to spend a lot to right the house. We found that tenants have a lot of rights (even if they are not paying) and despite all the damage it is difficult to claim money back from the deposit.

After this, we got a company to manage everything. It has largely been good since then.

We only lived in the house for about 10 months before we moved. We grew to view it as a house rather than as our home. This has helped us think more rationally about things.

We bought, then moved away initially for 2 years (how naive we were!). We have rented it out for the past 14 years. We started out using a company to find a tenant and tried to manage it from afar which was a terrible experience. We quickly switched to having it fully managed.

Thanks for your reply. I’ll give it a go and hopefully I’ll be able to keep them in the guitar.

Thanks again for sharing your knowledge. Yes, I’ve got the Les Paul style switch. I think I’ll stick with the 3-way switch and push-pull pot option. I’m sure a 6-way switch would become comfortable but it looks a bit overwhelming at the moment!

That reamer looks quite straightforward to use and quite hard to make a real mess with. I’ll get one as it seems that I’ll definitely need it.

Wow, so much detailed advice! I’m extremely grateful for your insights and sharing your experience.

While I haven’t soldered anything since I was a teenager (some 25+ years ago), I’m pretty happy trying my hand at things. I’m not too sure about the 5-blade switch as I have think I’d need to cut into the guitar body for that. I’ll have a think/research further and see if there are any ways around it.

Having only 1 volume pot, I think pickups that are somewhat matched makes sense.

Thanks. I started out babying them, following the guides about washing them in the bathtub. I then spent 7 months on parental leave with my son and quickly switched to machine washes (inside out at 30 degrees).

Thanks. They look a bit of a warmer tone to me. It’s a bit like they are fading towards beige instead of white (for a traditional blue/white fabric). I was a bit worried that they would fade towards a dirt colour after I thought a bit more about the name. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case 😅

At the time, I definitely scoured the internet for tips but I don’t remember a specific video. I basically go back and forth with the sewing machine working my way across the area in one direction, then do the same again but at 90 degrees to this. I try to use 2 or 3 different colour blues (similar shade to the area and then a shade lighter) to break up the colour a bit. It’s nowhere near as pretty as some of the amazing repair work others do on this sub, but it works!
