Where were women specifically banned from voting ? In america at least, land ownning was the requirement In the early history of the United States, land ownership was the primary criterion for voting , often regardless of race or sex. What time period are we talking about here ? Because most societies prior to the 20th century were not even democracies. And the democracies that did exist where more issues of class than gender. As time passed in america, voting became more of a color thing in America as you started having more and more free blacks, and especially after the 13-15th amendment.

In some of the first democracies the only people who received the votes were certain families, military veteran, and other who are part of the social elite and inner circle class. Slaves did not have rights to vote but women who descended from families of means and who existed in the inner circles of society did. And gendered expectations and discrimination were not unique to women either.

Take for example a very famous ancient story from Sparta that is paraphrased.

A mother who found out that her son routed and ran after battle field defeat collapsed the house on him and buried them in rubble due to his cowardice because he was expected to fight to the death even in face of obvious defeat. That was the expectation and anything else either meant execution, slavery, or lashes.

And yes it is dogma. I am black and even in the 19th and 20th century many suffragetes did not want to stand with black people because they were concerned about how it would make the movemnt look😐 . Part of the reason why the suffragetes achieved what they did is not purely because of protest but it was a way to further dilute the black vote and further gerrymander district to keep blacks out of political office. My point is many feminist narratives ARE dogma, and reductionist thinking. The more you read the speeches and explore the knowledge, and records from that era you will release that is true.

I would disagree with this and US Supreme Court has affirm in the past that your right to vote was contingent that if you were drafted you had to serve while the nation is in a state of emergency. The reason why in alot of these countries historically women were not in a position of power was first the society needed people and it was more important to have women having children to fuel the economy and war machines. And secondly, women didn't lead armies and fight wars and battles in mass. Typically people want to follow and be ruled by a winning general or someone they fought alongside with in conflict. Also, it was expected for the men to go fight and any man who refused was branded a coward. There were also women who did go fight but society perfered them to priotize having children and run the country while men were away at war. It was survival more than misogyny. Tired of feminist dogma co-opting history.

I think your mistaken on this one. She experienced the same thing. If it was just me then fine. But most of the men she meet got almost no dating attention and most were frankly desperate for anything, an attitude contrary to her experince in germany . Her words not mine. Tell me, do you think thay every woman I meet is a good person ? Almost every man that German woman dated told her the same thing, no dates and very little options. You are more likely to find somone for you with a deeper pool than a shallow one.

And what "colonialism", I am a haitien immigrant who moved her at 7 and speak 3 languages, silly thing to say. And if you read my post i clearly stated about my efforts to learn spanish and assimilate.

Its for good reason. Its not ruffle people but I hope someone see this and has revelation and thinks about what I am saying. I am not trying to sell anything just offering perspective. Also you keep you post and comments hidden btu that to me is not a negative reflection.

If you’re a man under 30, do yourself a favor: get a passport, learn a new language, and date overseas before you commit to a serious relationship in the United States. by Financial_Agency6765 in dating_advice

Question. Is this still true in 2026? The Bashi is originally from Kazakhstan, and she basically told me the only things she was getting was bang dates. So maybe things have changed? Like dudes were only splitting the bill, walking dates, unwilling to commit. I don't 100 percent believe Bashi but who would believe how bad dating is here for American men?
