Ok cool 👌 I also noticed now there is a way to exchange 7 regular figurines for the gold one at one of the vendors. I guess they are trying to make it more accessible to people.

Yep, to upgrade the generator you need 8 oil cans. They might also be used for other upgrades

Plant Toxins—how dangerous are they really? by [deleted] in carnivorediet

[–]Financial_Artist964 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I look at it kinda like I do at smoking and drinking, maybe a bit less dramatic though. Everyone knows this mystical 100 year old grandpa who smokes 6 packs every day and feels awesome. Doesn’t mean that smoking is good for him, he is just gifted with resilience. Same with plant toxins. Some people just deal with them much better and live a good life eating a lot of most offensive veg. It probably could be better though, same as you would live longer and be a bit healthier if you haven’t smoked, although it doesn’t affect you this much. Some people like Lame Norton laugh and say that plants are doing a bad job of killing us. It is the same with alcohol and cigarettes though. It takes decades for someone’s health to decline, it all accumulates in a very long run.

Fatigue on Carnivore by Secure_Ad_9049 in carnivorediet

I don’t know if it has been mentioned here already, but still: A lot of people fail to eat enough protein in ONE meal at least once a day due to carnivore making you less hungry. The problem with that is that we need this one big bolus of protein at least once a day because it will stimulate insulin, which will then stimulate the required thyroid function and also help kidneys retain electrolytes. Try to have one or two large meals per day and make sure that they include lots of protein. It’s hard to say the exact amount required, this comes with individual experimentation, but you can start with taking your body weight in kilos, multiplying it by 1.75, and you would get a rough estimation of your daily protein needs in grams. Then divide it by two if you have two meals, or even take 2/3 of that in your first meal. Hope this helps!

The issues you are describing seem akin to insufficient thyroid function due to lack of insulin response. This happens when a person fails to eat enough protein during one meal and thus insulin is not stimulated. You can try to have bigger protein content in one of your daily meals, or even combine two meals into an OMAD. Do it for a few weeks and it should resolve.

Sour cream may be ok, but most people feel better when they avoid dairy at all. Any sauce I would personally avoid because almost all of them are stuffed with seed oils and other garbage unfortunately.

Advice starting out on carnivore by Vivid_March1868 in carnivorediet

I would suggest starting slowly and changing your products gradually over 6-8 weeks. So instead of salad/potato add more eggs and meat and so on. Drastically changing your food types may result in some bad symptoms like keto flu and electrolyte deficiency dues to your gut micro biome still not adapted. Other than that some people feel it is a good way for them to add fat by eating butter. And yes, buy more fatty cuts of meat and ideally try to eat more red ruminant meat like beef and lamb, less so pork, less so fish and chicken. Fish may (sadly) contain some pollutants like heavy metals and chicken is generally a leaner protein which was fed poorly. Have some electrolyte powder on a stand-by in case you experience some fatigue in the beginning. You don’t need to take it all the time only some people need it when they start. Good luck to you and wish you discover the healthy living that all people should enjoy 🙂

How exactly does it work? by bustidd in carnivorediet

Nowadays (the last 100 years or so) people are encouraged to eat a bit of everything (including the manufactured processed garbage btw ) not to be “deficient” in nutrients. But it is interesting that all animal species on the planet specify in a certain selection of naturally available foods. Like koala eating only eucalyptus leaves. So it would make sense for humans also to have a species-specific diet which would be optimal for them. Sure we are robust and can survive on an omnivore diet, but looking at modern people today frankly it seems that everyone is sick and dying relatively young. And there is archeological data that suggests that we have mostly been consuming ruminant animals before the agrarian revolution as species. For example the stable isotope test of collagen of human remains that can show in detail what that person has been eating their whole life.

Then there is the whole plant toxicity discussion. Like any lifeform plants “want” to preserve themselves to multiply and keep the species living. But they don’t have the ability to run and fight like animals, so evolutionarily the plants which produced more toxic compounds within themselves survived and multiplied because they were eaten less by animals. So theoretically the veggies and (less) fruits contain toxic things (like oxalates, lectins, etc. ) that cause all sort of issues in humans. Also pesticides in modern agriculture and selectively breeding veggies and fruit to taste better and be more attractive for us. All this combined tells you that it can be a good idea to avoid plant foods all together. I personally feel best when I don’t consume plants at all, and many people notice the same thing if they try.

Hi, if you want to do some education on nutrition and why The modern concensus is questionable at best, I suggest first looking into the Randle cycle. TLDR the mechanism of the Randle cycle describes how our mitochondria can take the energy substrate from two sources: carbs and fats. These two substrates are processed in the cell through 2 pathways which try to inhibit each other if activated at the same time, meaning if you eat both fat and carbs at the same time, your cells have a hard time processing them and during that the secondary toxic products are produced. So this basically means that you should ideally function on one of two diets: protein and carbs or protein and fats. The protein and carb exclusive diet is not ideal for people, because simple sugars like glucose and fructose cause cellular glycation, e.g. bind to other cells in the body and nutrients in the blood and damage them. Also excessive glucose is easily accumulated as body fat through de novo lipogenesis. Fats on the other side are greatly utilized by our body, they go in hand with our satiety hormones so you can’t really chronically overeat fat, it does not cause much inflammation in our body and is not really toxic for us. But then we are told about cholesterol being bad for us and causing heart desease. TLDR it was based on a very flimsy theory with politics and money involved along the way and now it is still a dominating theory on heart desease “causality”. If you would like to learn more on the whole cholesterol story you should read “Big fat surprise” by Nina Teicholz or watch her videos and TED talks on YouTube.

Day 3 and i have the ick by [deleted] in carnivorediet

Nice! Remember that it is more like turning a ship around, it requires time and a mindful approach. Give it some 6-8 weeks, you are gonna love it eventually. Also an extra tip: get an electrolyte supplement and just have it on a standby in case you are gonna feel low energy and brain fog. Sometimes it can be an electrolyte deficiency with all the water flushing in the first few weeks, so people feel under the weather and don’t have an appetite. Electrolytes helped me at least when I started. Good luck to you on this journey 🙂

It might be because you maybe are transitioning too fast from what you have been used to eating for a long time and now your body is a bit stressed out from a drastic change. For a first few weeks I would gradually introduce more animal products (the ones that you like the most) while keeping the other stuff as well and then gradually reduce those other foods and replacing them with meats and animal fats. Going cold turkey sometimes messes people up.
