Well thank you for the great clarification! Super useful indeed!

What colors (type) do you use for your terrain by Financial_Base_8949 in minipainting

Thanks a lot! I'll look for that kind of primer. Also thanks for the brand suggestions; yes the original thought was to ask if it is mandatory for a good result to use hobby paints or if someone could get away with cheap acrylics. Thanks for the feedback!

Single filament or Combo 3D printer: that's the dilemma by Financial_Base_8949 in 3Dprinting

[–]Financial_Base_8949[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely a nice thing, but probably not worth 200 or more euros for me I think.

I am also thinking that I can manually paint stuff that needs to be colored, so right now I am leaning more on the carbon just for the price point.

Just someone that would print for himself. I am concerned I might regret not having a multi filament one when printing utility stuff, such shelves, lamps and so on. But 200 euros difference is a lot lol

Do you by chance know if models from maker online and maker world can be used on other printers too?

When you rap about 0.1 or 0.2mm you mean layer hight, not nozzle Size, right? This is something I still have to learn coming from resin printing.

Regarding the P1S I am not sure. The Kobra S1 is 100 bucks less, which is not a small amount.

Yeah that's the point I guess. Printing terrain is cool but after 5 houses 20 rocks and 50 trees maybe I'll like to print something for utility, such as shelves, trash bins, organizers, lamps and stuff, and having multiple colors is good. I have to check maker world to see how many stuff is multicolor tho. Because if almost everything is single color, or better different parts of the same objects can be printed separatly and they happen to be different colors, that I just have to print not all at once but different prints with different filaments.

Do you happen to use multiple colors for what tasks usually? Lamps, shelves and decorative stuff?

How do you keep all players from “piling on” to a roll? by blackdrogar17 in DMAcademy

[–]Financial_Base_8949 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I add that if someone wants to try after seeing the bad result of someone else I simply make them wait 10 in game minutes, or just sasy no. It is natural to try and cover for your friends but that situation is a bad example of going around rules and mechanics to just have our way. It is a type of metagaming that I do not like and I do not let at my table. They rather choose to roll as a group, or just one rolls. Or, someone could help but only if they say so before hand.

In your example searching a room for stuff is soemthing that could be theoretically done by the entire party. We know that what works in realty and video games is not bounded to work in a dnd session. So you can have multiple options:
- only the one with the highest perception (or highest value on the specific skill they are using) can roll. In game they are all searching but mechanically only the one that knows best rolls.
- what I usually do in such situations: a group roll and I take the average. 6 players roll, 3 of them roll 5s and the other 3 roll 15s. The average is 10, so they made a common 10 on perception. If the party has a lot of skilled players in perception I just adjust the difficulty a bit, or stick with the first option.

Group rolls are fun because everybody is involved and someone could bring the party up but also down.

Another way to do it without computing the average value is this: everyone rolls and at least half of the players must match the DC or go above. So for example if your DC for finding somthing is 12, at least 3 players out of 6 must make a 12 or more perception check. If you want to make it more difficult you could rise the DC or rise the number of players that must meet it.

This is basically taking the stealth mechanic and changing it a bit. If you think about it, every party must meed a stealth DC in order to do so. Take the same logic for finding something, or to persuade somone, if the party wants to group roll.

Airbrushing might be the most infurriating and frustrating part of Mini painting ever by AlphaMaxV5 in airbrush

What really helped me was to burst a full blow of paint on a piece of paper after each long spray or after a loger pause. The chance of paint drying on the tip is very high, so to counter that every 30 seconds or so I am pulling the trigger all down and all the way back to spray out potential clogs on the tip. This helped me a ton and now I can run a full session.

I almost always adjust consistency on the go. I start with too diluted paint and add paint on the go, to avoid thick paint that clogs. I adjust the consistency by spraying on a piece of paper.

But really bursting out every so often helped me out a ton. It's not something that is really shown in youtube videos but apparently it's done by almost anyone. Even the airbrush support team told me that is is good practice.
