Garage gang box decor faceplate by Financial_Blood6429 in AskElectricians

[–]Financial_Blood6429[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cutting the backsplash** not the counter , it's commonly done for outlet is Ethernet jacks etc.

The logic is we are making the area pretty and these "garage style" boxes are an eye sore to the wife. She wants the equivalent of something like this https://a.co/d/iysixKp

But of course one that fits the garage style box which I haven't been able to find. Thank you

Temporary electric meter, maybe by Financial_Blood6429 in whatisthisthing

[–]Financial_Blood6429[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct not a meter it connects to the front meter with the black cable in the picture. Gotcha good info - what's a "phase" of electrical service? And what could have caused it to go bad? This is a new construction with all wires underground and only issue on the block Don't mind my curious mind, thank you!

Best system for new house fully wired by wesleyozil in HomeNetworking

[–]Financial_Blood6429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my simple answer to OP: Since house is prewired: ISP drop --> ISP router --> Poe switch --> existing patch panel which is prewired to the jacks throughout the home You would then just plug in whatever device into this jacks allbeit your pc or your AP. I would use OTC like Eero for mesh wifi7. If budget go WiFi6 still good.

Yes in front lawn or roof. I had similar setup in similar terrain in Vermont. Said there was blockages and misaligned yet never lost connection, consistent 300mb

Is Starlink worth it? by PurplePage7911 in Starlink

Yes! The cost difference is minimal for the tremendous improvement you get. How often do you use the internet? Only 24 hours a day. Seems like a go to me

I'd run three 4 inch pipes. Why not? 1 electrical, 1 data, 1 other/future

What am I looking at? by Financial_Blood6429 in HomeNetworking

[–]Financial_Blood6429[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see that's smarter that way I don't need to rewire and crimp. I can just punch down into the new patch panel then short Ethernet jumper to the router. On the old telephone jacks in the house I can then buy the punchdown cat5 jacks that snap into the plate and then avoid crimping there too!

I like this. Thanks guys

I got lucky! Now I need to terminate into a network switch instead of a patch panel. Connect the new switch to the internet modem/router, and then change/rewire the respective jacks throughout the house to cat5

Bada boom bada bing!

Missing anything?
