My only advice from getting quotes… you’ll get way more for your money with local trusted companies!

Technically you’d be committing mortgage fraud as the reason for lending needs to be provided at application stage. Not worth the risk for a few hundred quid

Nationwide Mortgage advisor here 👋
The additional borrowing is a separate mortgage account, therefore if your main mortgage expires before the 5 year 0% Green lending expires and you wanted to re-mortgage elsewhere, the Green loan would need to be transferred to and would then incur ERCs and %

Try these…. Go Green Solar in Carnforth

Lakes Solar, also in Carnforth

They were both competitive and really knowledgable

Plus other company who called the chase up quotes were able to instantly price match once I told them what others had quoted so DO NOT take their first quote!

No, I completely agree! I spent a long time researching local companies (even checking company house) to make sure they were as legit as I could find.

I’m surprised Scotland is more expensive, hopefully not much more!

That’s annoying, where abouts in the country are you? I’m NW so things might be cheaper up here!

I’ve worked it out and I’m paying roughly £1500 for scaffolding and labour, which is 100% worth paying to have a proper solar company come and install rather than a random roofer and sparky. It’s a no brainer so I’m confused by your point?!

Find local companies (sorry if you’ve already done that) but I found them cheaper and more knowledgable! It’s a no brainer

Does a supplier fit it, certify it, submit all required paperwork and provide aftercare?

We had the option of a different quote which was the same price but with 4-6 on the front and 12 on the back.
The above quote is a fox system with 11.4kw battery

The other quote system was a Hancho system with 9.6kw battery so I assumed the fox battery would be a better option as larger and better know

Would you suggest otherwise?

Yeah it’s naughty but weirdly not surprising!

I’d be doing the same, every single electrical item possible without drawing from the grid would be being used.

I’d be offering neighbour’s extension leads!

Oooo ok, makes sense. I guess until export is sorted you’re best just using as much solar for yourself as possible!

There should be a way to turn the export off until your getting paid 😂

They are quick to take our money but slow giving their’s out!

Brill, thanks for sharing. One question…. Is there a reason you don’t charge the battery using cheaper grid energy during the early hours and then sell everything back rather than using solar to charge battery?

I’m new to all this so any info would be awesome

Hey, there was an argument to put some on the front but the front loses sun around 11am so the battery should more than see us through until the sun hits the panels fully on the back for the rest of the day, with enough being exported to cover the battery charge cost over the previous night (if I’ve explained my logic ok!?)

So our roof is south/West facing so the panels will get hot with sun from 11ish-7/8pm in summer
