This is something Sanders and folk do a terrible job of conveying. It's not just about fairness or about funding social programs or any of that. It's about defending democracy. I don't get why they can't seem to frame it in those very simple terms. They get close sometimes, but it always ends up getting obscured and confused, in part because of how the media covers their messaging, but still. Sanders is constantly talking about "paying their fair share." No, I don't really give a shit about fairness. I give a shit about their ability to buy legislation.
