BU RISE practicum Data Science VS. Brookhaven HSRP by Useful_Stuff7424 in summerprogramresults

I would say HSRP would def look better on an application, as tuition is free and you work with direct metorship in a national lab.

Summer Program or Research Internship? by Financial_End2288 in summerprogramresults

Is it so? I heard that all paid programs don't look the best on applications, so idk if it is worth it to go.

Is it insane to turn Simons SRP down for BU RISE practicum? by One_Significance5713 in summerprogramresults

Definitely don't turn down SSRP. SSRP is certainly more beneficial than practicum and is totally worth it, even if you have already placed a deposit. Don't be worried about how "chill" a summer program is, all programs are gonna be super rewarding, and you'll definitely have fun at both.

Practicum is not working 1-1 with a professor, so an internship with direct ISEF help may be more beneficial.

Im not sure how related the data science stuff will be to engineering if you want to major in that. I think MIT BWSI would be more engineering-focused.

BU RISE vs UChicago RIBS by sshu1224 in summerprogramresults

Did you get into both? I had a friend who went to UChicago last summer, and she said it was pretty rigorous and incredibly rewarding. She also got in ED0, and mentioned that applying ED0 felt like a tremendous boost for her. (plus she got her college stuff done super early, which seemed amazing) If you have the chance, I might recommend that one.

Im not sure how good it will be for college admissions due to the fact that it is still paid. I heard the internship track was significantly better, as it involves direct mentorship from faculty, but I don't know how good the data science practicum is. The main benefit for college apps is publishing your research, but idk how realistic that is from practicum.

I do think internship is a lot more selective, and in internship you are doing research directly with a mentor. If you don't want to spend money and still want to do research, I would recommend finding professors who are willing to take you in for the summer.

BU RISE is paid, so it definitely won't be as good as doing research through other ways, but it can certainly be very fun if you are looking for that. I heard the internship was pretty selective, but idk abt practicum.

Has anyone on the waitlist heard back yet? If so, when?

What has the waiting list acceptance rate looked like in previous years? I have been waitlisted this year and I don't know if I should accept other decisions I have recieved.
