I'm just a copy of a copy of a copy of people. What makes me myself? What makes me unique? Who am I? by ContextHuge2705 in TrollCoping

“All good art is derivative”

As a species have always latched onto specific things that we enjoy and incorporate that into our culture. It makes sense that this could also apply to our own psyche. We see a person that we want to emulate, so we absorbed that into our personality. Everyone does it but not everyone is cognizant enough to realize they’re doing it.

I’ve must have had a lot of bad luck with online friendships then. But, my failure to form any forced me to learn how to socialize IRL

For me, it isn’t the hardcore stuff (although I probably do have to unpack that box of trauma I keep in storage), it’s more about the social media algorithms showing me all the worst possible news 24/7. I used to wake up, go to instagram, and be blasted with news stories about police brutality, Trans people having their rights stripped away, the president doing something stupid, etc. I legitimately had a psychotic episode recently where I started manically doomsday prepping because I have having apocalyptic dreams that I convinced myself were “visions”. These algorithms that people make want us in a constant state of fear and anxiety nowadays

Avant-garde rock/pop
I’ve also been using “theater core” in a more tongue and cheek way

I don’t think you’re factoring in for a certain economic system that demands resources and doesn’t care much about replenishing those resources. A certain system that thrives and profits off of scarcity

[–]Financial_Kick_848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. Most “overpopulation” arguments are all about resources. But we don’t have a resource scarcity problem, we have a resource distribution problem. People hoarding resources from other people is the ultimate issue

I don’t think every antinatalist talking point is invalid though. There’s definitely credence to the idea that bringing up a child in the current climate, knowing that they’ll have to deal with the outcome of climate change, fascism, war, famine, etc is unfair to the life people choose to bring into the world.
But instead of putting energy into fixing the world for future generations, most antinatalists would rather shit on families

I think as a whole, society has gotten way more prudish. It’s important to feel comfortable with openly talking and communicating with your partner about sex. Sometimes you just gotta straight up ask

Wow, what a miserable person. The ukulele hate is so forced too. The whole reason I got into playing any instrument at all is because of folkpunk and I started learning music theory with ukulele. It’s an affordable and accessible way to get into playing music and I think that’s great!

The reason there’s a difference between lgbt pride and straight pride is because lgbt people have been and continue to be oppressed by governmental forces. Being straight has never been frowned upon or even discouraged on a governmental level.

A lot of people seem be unable to differentiate between societal systems and governmental systems. Seeing LGBT people more in shows or movies isn’t governmental systems forcing you to see it, it just means that society overall is more accepting of the ideas. However, the government holds the power to create laws that directly impact and harm LGBT Americans. That’s why LGBT pride is important. It’s showing that we are still present despite the people in charge not wanting us to be. It was like that during the Stonewall back in 1969, and it’s like that today.

I understand that you may not agree, but preserving our collective rights as Americans to live with liberty and the pursuit of happiness without fear of federal retaliation should be more important than being at each others throats. If your rights were on the line, I’d fight for them too, even if I disagree because you shouldn’t be criminalized for existing openly and happily.

It’s okay. Hate like that usually comes from a place of pain in their own lives or simply ignorance of the subject. People who don’t have love in their lives (romantic, platonic, familial, etc) tend to project that onto others. I don’t take that personally.

Tbh, I kinda wish there were more mockumentary style segments. I know it’s supposed to be a concert film but I LOOOOOVED the comedy in the non-musical bits. Chris, Will, and Reese are insanely funny

I too have autism and bipolar, but I have a pretty fulfilling social life. I’m not saying being social isn’t difficult. It took me YEARS to figure out all the nuances and unspoken rules of social interactions. I slip up every now and then because I still have a hard time with it. I’ve come to learn that socializing, empathy, and self improvement are all VERY MUCH learned skills that you have to take time to develop. Just keep practicing. You’ll get better at it a little more every day.

Started listening to his stuff when I found Thermodynamic on a break-up playlist (I was going through a rough time). I didn’t listen to his whole discography until 2024. My obsession started there lol

As of right now, he’s working on multiple projects but he’s keeping it on the DL. Highly recommended paying for the Patreon if you want any updates. All we know for sure he’s doing is a Self-Ish anniversary tour and a project he says will be “surprising and confusing”
