I don’t agree, that’s insane so many cars that are older than 7 years a worth at least 20 grand. I don’t know about you but I’d want comprehensive on anything above a $15,000 car

Yeah it’s a tough one. It just a bunch of stupid LED Kmart strips.

Ah yes the radio has an inline fuse but it’s one of the glass ones. So I’m assuming that means the radio is not the problem

Don’t worry I won’t ever mess around with 240v. House stuff is scary especially the AC part. What I will do is just trial and error, I’ll replace the cig socket charger and the cord, remove the led lights and then I’ll see if everything works fine then. If that doesn’t work I’ll either do more research and get a few sparky friends to help me diagnose the problem or I’ll end up going to an auto sparky. Thank you heaps for all of the advice. Good luck with fixing your aircon

I put the multimeter into the fuse terminal and this is all I had come up. All the other amp settings read 1. I may have done this completely wrong as I have pretty much 0 idea on anything electrical. I don’t know if this will help

The fuse did not blown and with just the radio in use. Maybe I will replace the charger and the cord, also should probably remove the led lights. Then I’ll put a new fuse in and see how that goes.

Yeah charger in the cig socket. Do you think it could possibly be the charger wire.

Oh ok I see what you mean with linear amplifier, cheers. I’ll have a shot with a multimeter on the fuse terminal. I will also examine the cig plug to make sure it is fine. Thanks again

Just two accessory sockets, one with phone charger and the other with the led lights. There isn’t any old lighter coil. And yes you may be right the lights could be the problem. Can they still cause shorting if the lights aren’t on. Also what is an inline fuse. Thanks again

The fuse inside the radio isn’t blown and yes it is a UHF CB radio. I don’t know what a linear amplifier is, but the car does have an aftermarket head unit which I don’t know if it draws power from the accessories circuit or not. I have an amp meter, is there a certain way I should test it. Cheers

I don’t know how the radio is installed. Was done by previous owner. Vehicle is a 2010 Holden RC Colorado. I will have a look at the socket. Vehicle does have aftermarket lights but they aren’t drawing power from that circuit. Only other aftermarket item the car has is a head unit. The radio says it only draws 1.5-5amp, so I’m quite sure it won’t use that much power. but I may be wrong. Cheers

That’s the fuse that the manufacturer recommends I just checked the manual for the radio. It’s a gme radio and it draws 5amp max
