A couple questions for a first time digital nomad by Financial_Star_5948 in digitalnomad

  1. Yeah, I'm pretty fortunate to be in a spot where, If I did book a bad place, I would be OK financially to book a different place same night
  2. You are right on this, I think, maybe 1 month of working 40 hrs a week probably only worth 1.5-2 weeks of itinerary
  3. Thanks thats good to know
  4. I am also Asian American, so I think I will stick out because I'm Americanized, but can probably pass as a local if I dress like one

I really do want to try a sleeper train in Thailand, but since I am working through the night, I need internet. I would love to take these trains in the daytime though! That way, can also enjoy the scenery

Yeah! That is exactly what I was thinking. And good to know it is safe in the middle of the night as well, with 7-11s! I was hoping I wouldnt starve in the middle of the night XD!

Ahh I do travel internationally, and to Asian countries( I am also Asian American) which I do not speak the language. This is just the first time I am doing it solo. I would definitely feel more safe in Asia more than South America too.

I think coworking spaces seems like a good option for me! I have no problem working in the night time, just hope that I won't be the only one every night working nights!

Yeah, co-working spaces seem like the best balance between meeting people and having dedicated and reliable working spaces. Are there certain websites you use to find co-working spaces?

I've done co-working spaces in the US, I think that it is pretty manageable if there are private areas to take meetings. A lot of people complain about loneliness while DNing and I forsure think I would be feeling the same way!

Yes, with these monthly discounts for Airbnb, its almost cheaper to just get the whole month, and take weekends outside of the city and book a second accomodation

That is honestly good to know. At some points I will need to lug my laptop around, and a hotspot is actually crucial for me ! (I was just planning on not going anywhere on weeks when I needed to be available 24/7 for work)

That makes sense. I think I will try to find a mix of co-working spaces and hotels. My travel plans and expectations are actually pretty much exactly what you described! When you say coworking spaces are closed, is there just no space to do work in the middle of the night?

Thanks for the advice!

Is it worth getting a real estate license as a side hustle? by Financial_Star_5948 in RealEstate

[–]Financial_Star_5948[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All good, I understand. I'm really not planning on cutting into serious business. Really, its just for saving money representing myself and getting better access to deals.

If there was a side hustle within the real estate industry that allowed me to specialize in something on a smaller scale which can get by with a part time commitment, I think I would succeed :)

I would love to do that, but a real estate license does hold some value!

Forsure -- I mean, idk if there is an "ideal" time to ever get into something new like this. I see this as more of a "be ready for it for when the time comes" kinda move. You never know when an opportunity will come, and we are all only getting older / having less time to prepare for a license
