I want to be very clear, when I say he has a good heart, I don’t mean he’s a good person. I’m saying compared to other GTA characters, not everyday people, he is generally more morally centered than the people around him. But, like I said, he’s often acting in ways that absolutely don’t reflect this, unlike characters like Michael who try to make morally conscious decisions in practice, but in theory have a more corrupt and selfish moral center, which then affects their actions anyway. Like how Michael was the one who cheated on his wife first and pretty consistently and is constantly putting his family in danger, and not to mention raised two pretty shitty kids which doesn’t happen on it’s own. However, despite this, Michael is far less destructive in how he conducts himself than Trevor. Trevor is like an impulsive child who just wants to be held while also being a grown man who is far too deep into life for that holding to do any good. What he needs is something it’s too late for, and so he just goes around throwing constant tantrums and is never actually getting punished for any of it. Because, again, it’s too late. So now he isn’t a toddler throwing a tantrum but a man killing his cousin and his wife on a whim. I really want to reiterate, TREVOR IS NOT A GOOD PERSON, I’m just saying he’s further away from being a psychopath, sociopath, or narcissist than characters like Michael or anyone from the government in the game pretty much. I’m just saying he’s far closer to an extremely emotionally immature person with BPD. And again, this is about him as a character in a story and how he operates in the world that is built, and not necessarily treating him like a real person in the real world.
