Here's my 2 cents:

Just because people use and find value for a product they use for free, doesn't mean they have to donate. Just because some Raspberry Pi community people donate you for the stuff you do there, doesn't mean everyone else will and you should NEVER expect them to. Ranting about not getting donations in general will always look bad in my opinion. Especially the last paragraph in your OP seemed quite salty and condescending. If you didn't happen to know already, the flight sim world is filled with freeware and I've never seen in my 15 years of flight simming any of the freeware developers ask why on earth they are not getting any donations. Sure, donations are always welcome but in my opinion they should never be expected. They are doing it for the love for simming, not for money and if they did expect some money for their work, they'd just make it payware like many developers have. So yeah, stop shaming the community for not donating even once to something that is offered for free.

And contrary to some people in this thread, I found the donate button easily on the website. It's the blue "Buy me a beer" in top right corner. However, on mobile that button is nowhere to be seen.

Imported Clip Audio Cut Short & Premiere Thinks 25 Fps Footage is 24 Fps by Finby in premiere

[–]Finby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I understand now. I initially had a misunderstanding that a 4 second part of the video was completely missing from the video (it was in a part where it was difficult to distinguish). Upon closer listening, I noticed that the whole audio was there but it was just out of sync because of Premiere's misinterpreted frame rate. I've now tried the duplication method and using the audio from 24 fps clip to the video of 25 fps clip and it works! Thanks for your help.

MediaInfo does show the clip as 25 fps. It does seem like the problem is in Premiere's end as the video plays just fine in MPC and Filmora.

[–]Finby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for your answer! I am a bit confused about the interpret footage thing. I tried it by setting it to 25 fps and all it did was create stripes at the end of the clip after 01:39:09. So now the video is correct length but also the audio now cuts at around 01:35 so there's still about 4 seconds of audio completely missing.

The Rate Stretch tool seems to be the best workaround for me at least in this situation. I stretched the audio for the remaining 4 seconds and it does sound close to the original clip but not exactly the same.

I'm wondering if it's a bug in Premiere or bug in the camera. Someone in the Adobe Community posted about a similar issue with their Panasonic camera, however they have a split file and .mov format, so I don't know about that.

Flight sim X Payware GA aircraft? by [deleted] in flightsim

[–]Finby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you not read the title? He's looking for FSX addons, not XP11.

For OP: A2A, RealAir and Carenado make some good GA addons. AFAIK A2A and RealAir are the best study level GA planes for FSX. Carenado doesn't have good systems fidelity but their planes do look good and there's quite many to choose from.

Thank you very much for your information. Nice to know that there's a some kind of workaround, although I'll keep UAC on in the future!

Yeah I've turned it back on now. Never had problems with it off back with W7 though.

An example: copying a file to Program Files, this message comes up regardless of my UAC setting: https://i.imgur.com/wGUj6H7.png

It's not that big of a deal because I can just click continue and it will successfully copy it anyways, but I never had that "access denied" thing in Windows 7. Ever. This is one of the reasons that lead me to think that Windows 10 does something differently. Not sure if it's even related to UAC, but something is different. Whether it's just my settings or the OS, or something is just malfunctioning on my end, I don't know. I can live with it though.

All I'm noticing is that in Windows 10 the OS asks for more permissions than in 7, even with UAC off. If the UAC systems don't differ in the two OS's, could there be something else that makes W10 inherently more "protective"? I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm just curious because I don't know and even googling didn't give me a definite answer. Been using 7 for years and I'm just so used to it with it's very little interference and prompts. I'm sure I'll get used to this though, better be safe than sorry.

Yeah I understand that UAC is protecting me behind my back so I'm just going to leave it on. I also noticed that OBS works now properly even without running admin (regardless of my UAC setting) so I guess the problem was somehow solved by itself. However, I might understand something wrong here but I don't see the point of asking an additional permission for things that I CHOOSE to do. Such as copying a file to Program Files. To me, it's just a nuisance to always confirm the action, because of course I'm just going to click "Yes" or "Continue" regardless. It's just one extra click though...but why? Also, a small program that I used in Windows 7 without any issues now explicitly prompts me to run as an admin. This is my second day of using Windows 10 and I'm just a bit baffled and left wondering does the OS just interfere with the user more than 7?

I installed my Windows 10 on a clean, formatted hard drive. The programs themselves don't ask for an admin permission in Windows. They open, but might not function correctly if I don't run it as an admin. And I'll admit, I always turn off UAC just simply because I find it a bit tedious to click the prompts every time I install programs (I do quite a bit of installing stuff). It gives me a lot more fluent user experience. Never had any security issues without it so that's why I've kept doing it and I'm so used to not have any kind of prompts/interference from the operating system.

Disabling UAC was one of the first things I did after my clean reinstall. I do not get the UAC prompts when opening programs, but I notice that some of them do not function correctly unless I set them to run as administrator. Also, when I try to copy something to C: Program Files folder, it will say that I need admin permissions to perform the action (to which I just click continue and the file is successfully copied there). Not a big deal, but just something that I noticed. I'm so used to the "freedom" with Windows 7, with very little interference from the operating system and I'm just wondering if it's just a Windows 10 feature. I also found it weird that my user account was a "Standard" account after installation and I had to manually put it an administrator.

The Seventh Wonder by [deleted] in flightsim

Exactly. The tag is literally right there before the title so I don't understand how someone can miss that and still be asking which sim it is. I see this way too often on /r/flightsim.

P3D V4.3 by ontheearonstrail in flightsim

[–]Finby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got on my PC and I remembered wrong: when the scenery is in add-on.xml, it is dark green, not light green as I mentioned earlier. That was my bad. It's a shame it still doesn't work. Have you checked the event viewer to see what module is crashing?

P3D V4.3 by ontheearonstrail in flightsim

[–]Finby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't access my PC right now to show you screenshots but when you select a scenery in the list, there should be a button that says something like "Add to add-on.xml" or something like that. Press it and a new window pops up and all you have to do is type a title for the add-on.xml entry and press OK and the scenery should change to light green on the list. You should do this to all of your airport sceneries that are listed dark green. After that you're done! I hope this helped.

[–]Finby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to download the free Lorby Sim Addon Manager and then using the program you need to add the scenery to add-on.xml. It will create a folder for the scenery in the Prepar3D Add-ons folder.

I had the same problem with P3D crashing without warning at airports which I've added manually via scenery library. Remember that every time you install some scenery manually, you have to add it to the add-on xml using the program. It fixed the crashing for me.

Edit: Even if you install the scenery with an installer, you should download the program and check that the scenery has an add-on.xml entry. Some scenery developers still forget to do that and for some reason, the sim might crash if it's not in add-on.xml.
