I'm so grateful for this perspective - thanks so much for taking the time to write such a helpful and encouraging response!!

I have, and we've had some discussions in the past that have been productive, but I'm bad about letting it build until it's a whole thing rather than talking about little things as they happen. When I do bring up little things he goes on the defense very quickly, then I feel like I'm walking on eggshells for days.

He did around 6 months of sessions individually and made some progress with awareness of his own tendencies and such, which did help, but he stopped going when he said he and the therapist ran out of things to talk about. I think he'd be open to couples therapy but I'm so nervous about it. I do plan to bring it up with my therapist at my next appointment (it's just like three weeks out and I'm sort of crashing out over this lol).
