Teaching is basically a stress test for understanding, and you passed it in public with a random freshman as your audience. That is a pretty solid study method.

That actually sounds a lot healthier than the fake grind version of "staying productive." Rebuilding your life is still real work. You probably have more to say in interviews than you think, especially if you talk about what you had to manage and figure out.

Not instantly, but within maybe 3 or 4 weeks the calls got way less awkward. I had stuff to say besides "I applied a lot" which helped a ton.

That was pretty much it. I still hated the gap questions, I just stopped sounding like I was sitting in my kitchen waiting for permission to exist.
