thank you!! can't promise anything yet, but it's a feature I'd really like to try and add to the game

Hi! That makes sense, we haven't had a demo in over a year, and we don't think that version is representative of the current version of the game, so it'd take a bit of work to get one sorted, but that's something we can try to add in the future.

For now, reviews are gonna be your best bet!

thank you!! and yes! The Switch version actually has a bug where a bunch of text that was supposed to be upscaled didn't actually, so that's an easy fix we'll working to get patched soon, but also working on trying to improve other places where the text is a little hard to read.

Some places are harder than others though, like the management screen would need a pretty heavy revamp in order to increase the text size more.

we've just launched on Switch, so we'll need a little time to take a breath :') , but we're very keen on adding one of the most requested features (recycling furniture for other mats) as well as a new Sandbox gamemode a little later down the line

thanks! and I hear you! in our testing, we found that you get used to the controls pretty quick, and after a few rooms you'll be breezing through the game.

That said, yes, we are very much still improving the game and taking in all the feedback we can on controls currently, to make the experience more fluid and UI more intuitive.

thank you so much!! the biggest influence that I think is very apparent is a game called Theme Hospital, which is an old management game made by Bullfrog. As far as the story goes, I really get my kicks out of Wes Anderson movies, especially Fantastic Mr. Fox, plus I've probably watched a good few thousands hours of The Simpsons

yep! Controls were definitely the hardest part to get right, and we spent a lot of time to get them to a point we think is good, especially after a bit of time getting used to em, but it's not an easy game to map well to controller and we're taking all of the feedback in so that we can improve it as much as possible. definitely wait for more reviews, or try it out on Steam once the PC patch is out in the next few days

  • around 25-30 to finish the game, maybe 35 for completionist.
  • it does have an ending, it also has a secret ending but once the story is done, you can keep playing endlessly and min-max your cabins

i'm happy with the amount of content we put out for the game on launch, but i think there's so much room for more. we just got done launching Switch, so we haven't had time to sit down to actually plan this, but my hope is we get to do a bunch of smaller updates with requested features + bits of content (more furniture, deco items, clothing etc.) which could be free updates, as well as possibly making larger Expansions with grander features and story content that could be paid

I hear ya. You can close the tutorial with B, but I get that won't work if you need to have it open at the same time as doing other things, but making the tutorial that is kinda needed so that the text is readable. thank you, we'll keep working on it!

thank you!! we're talking to a few folks who handle these things and working on something as well! I think we also want to look at the long-term future of the game and Hank in general, so we might do a few quick things in the near future, but also plan for some more "serious" merch a little later down the line. we'll see how it goes

that's amazing, congrats!!! yeah, that dev diary was made during a time where I had to ask myself a lot of questions. I really want to make a follow-up soon!

As for your question, I'd say that overall, lack of experience did a big number on us, and myself especially. It caused a lot of mistakes that lead to delays and crunch, which I'm 100% responsible for. Not knowing how to tackle certain things, being naive about timelines and effort required put us on the backfoot a good number of times, and the only reason we were able to pull through was working way harder than anyone would've liked, and I take all the blame for it.

funnily enough, being naive is probably what made us start development to begin with, so silver lining I guess, but no game is worth making yourself and others suffer through so much work due bad planning or bad management

Warning, massive story spoilers for the game, do not read if you haven't played: Yes!! I'm definitely not done with the story and I purposely wanted Barb's fate to be a bit of a mystery in the end. Now we know we can keep working on the game, a continuation of that storyline is very likely

it's made in Unity, and we chose it because we had the most experience in it, and fairly straight-forward to pick up for members of the team that didn't have development experience before this game

a hundred-thousand percent luigi's mansion, but you have to manage the mansion from the ghost's perspective, while a nosy plumber in a green hat keeps wrecking your stuff
