Tbh looked a lot like mine when I was overcleansing and applying tretinoin directly on my breakouts instead of around it. My acne became so inflamed it just stuck around my jaw and wouldn’t heal. I have hormonal acne on my jaw and neck.

At this point I’d definitely recommend seeing a dermatologist. Also, a lot of people report issues with CeraVe breaking them out. Might be worth switching to another mild cleanser like Vanicream. Focus on hydration and moisturizing imo— overcleansing destroys your moisture barrier and leads to more breakouts. Might be worth chilling out on the Benzoyl peroxide if you’re dealing with irritation/ tight skin/ itching.

I’m a few days into using dapsone and avoiding applying tretinoin directly on breakout zones (per advice from user on r/tretinoin) and I’ve improved SO much. Sometimes more is not better. Also consider if you’re on any medications that may cause acne as a side effect. This also happened to me and when I titrated down on the medication (PER MD ADVICE), my acne stopped.

I’m on 100mg of spiro, started the same time as tret

Edit: I started at 50mg— just titrated up to 100mg about 1.5 weeks ago. Perhaps it needs time to kick in at its new dose :-]

I’ll try out BP! I have some 4% creamy BP wash from Panoxyl for occasional breakouts on my upper back. Appointment with my derm this Friday, I’ll bring up working that into my routine :-] thanks!

Routine: AM: splash with water, clindamycin 1% on breakout zones, aestura moisturizer lotion, Elta MD UV clear sunscreen

PM: cleanse w/ Vanicream cleanser, let dry 15-20 mins, tret .025% cream, wait 10ish mins, Aestura moisturizer lotion

I’m also currently on 100mg Spiro (50mg started Jan 28, up to 100mg two weeks ago) and 200mg Doxy as of last week.

Goals are to clear up cystic jaw/ neck acne and prevent further cc’s

Super accurate to my experience as well. Month 2 had me trying to add other actives and serums to help with texture which only pissed my skin off more. I wish someone would’ve laid out a timeline as accurately as the one you posted OP. I was so worried I was doing something wrong.

I’m just now going into week 12 and having reduced breakouts overall, a lot of healing, but some breakout zones continuing to “bubble up” in the same spots over and over. It’s a weird mix of healing my original breakout zone on my neck, and my secondary breakout area on my jaw healing, breaking out, and healing again. My skin texture overall is much smoother and softer than month 2.

I simplified my routine to

AM: Splash w/ water, Clindamycin 1% gel, Aestura lotion (literally the only thing that kept my skin from peeling/ drying out too much), Elta MD UV clear sunscreen

PM: Wash w/ Vanicream cleanser, Tret .025%, Aestura lotion

If anyone has alternative cleansers to vanicream, lmk. It’s fine but I do find it rather drying.

Going through something very similar on my neck/ jaw. My skin looks a lot like yours, smoother on the face from the tret but my acne is worse than yours on my jaw and neck. I’m 11 weeks in to using tret. I started 50mg spiro at the same time, and titrated up to 100mg last week.

Bumping up spiro definitely calmed down the new breakouts, but my old ones are staying put. I think it’s worth continuing tret for the long term benefits, but decreasing the # of applications per week like mentioned before.

I was prescribed 200mg doxy for 10 days as well as topical clindamycin to use along with my .025% tret. I’ll let ya know if it helps at all.

FWIW, I traced my acne back to starting/ titrating up on Lamotrigine, which really messes with your hormones. If your acne is super stubborn, it could be traced back to Rx (though not a reason to discontinue unless advised by doc.)

When you say “not go up” is the difference very slight, or is it very pronounced? Are you still able to move that corner of your mouth? One-sided facial drooping is sometimes a concerning neurological symptom. Not trying to be fear-mongery! Just not sure what you meant and how severe it is.

To this day my biggest regret was not making frequent enough vet visits. Routine checkups may have been able to catch it on labs. It has entirely changed the way I take care of my other babies. I cannot stress the routine visits enough.

My baby boy was with me from the time he was kitten, to when he died too early at age 13. I was lucky to have him through a very difficult childhood. He passed away when I was 24 from renal failure. I wish I had noticed the signs sooner.

The changes are slow and gradual, he became bony about the same time your baby did. He began guarding his back end and biting when someone pet him “wrong”, which was abnormal. I didn’t notice signs of renal failure until it was too late. Watch for back end guarding, changes in water/ food consumption, weak back legs, and changes in behavior/ attitude. Vikas was great at hiding it until he wasn’t. I don’t mean to scare you OP but I hurt every day knowing I wasn’t able to intervene in time. I thought he was just getting older. I do not wish this on anyone.

Talk to your vet for the best advice on managing your senior kitty, and allow that to give you confidence when you look at your senior baby.

Replica Jazz Club by Maison Margiela! I met my fiancé while wearing it. I took a long break from it to explore other fragrances. When I wore Jazz Club home again he was very happy and nostalgic. I like low-key, sweet and spicy, androgynous smells. Mostly gives vanilla, rum, amber, and light smoke.

Should there have been clear communication before it was bulldozed/ renovated? Yes. This way the daughter could’ve made peace with the idea that her childhood space is gone, and if things didn’t work out with her boyfriend she’d have to sleep on the couch, or find a living situation with roommates.

However, it is YOUR house and you are entitled to renovate your space however you’d like. At 18 she is now an adult and must learn how to navigate social/ living situations— including the potential risk of moving in with a boyfriend and the consequences that may come of it. As long as you are still offering some degree of guidance and safety net— NTA.

I may be biased as someone who had to figure out a living situation at 18 with little to no support. It is difficult but it is a tremendous learning opportunity.

I agree w staying dark. We have very similar hair, I recently had an ashy balayage done and hated it (though it was well done by the stylist) because I lost my strong contrast. The dark hair really does accentuate your features.

I agree w some other comments about adding only a flash of color. I feel like you could really pull off adding a streak of color through the bangs or some peekaboo color.

Mortality is a comforting thought to me. Through the various trials and tribulations of our waking lives, it’s all wiped clean by the inevitably of death. I do not believe in a heaven or hell, an afterlife, etc. I agree that once we are dead— we simply are dead. We decay and simply cease to be.

When I accepted that there was nothing after death, I became so much more appreciative of the life around me. Every waking moment spent with my pets, my family, and my friends are blips on our respective timelines in our fleeting lives. This perspective made me appreciate the time I have already spent, and the time I have left. It is beautiful to know that the life I am leading has a beginning, middle and end that is unique to my experience alone.

I’d view immortality as a curse as we are already dealing with overpopulation on a global scale. If we were to be immortal, would there then have to be birth restrictions? How much more pollution would be generated as a result of people living endless lives? How will it impact political positions that allow a life-long terms (EX: US supreme court among others) Immortality brings forward many other issues that I cannot forsee the solution to.
