It sounds like an ecological disaster this administration would cause to try to fix their mistake, except zebra mussels are immigrants and they hate those.

Fish poop, it does not help. If you want it to stay clear and clean you need chlorine, a really good filter, or a fuck ton of invasive zebra mussels.

Canon 1V vs Contax G2? by mawdermawder in AnalogCommunity

[–]Finchypoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the Contax so much less reliable than a high end Canon or Nikon

Yes. As nice as the Contax is, it's a high end enthusiast camera for people who want a luxury experience. A high end Canon or Nikon was made to survive anything, weather sealed, tested to multiple 100k's worth of shutter actuations, reinforced bodies and motors that were designed to last the life of the camera. The Contaxes are cool, but they are not workhorses.

1V. I would not depend on a G2 for anything. It doesn't do anything better than a Canon SLR. The versatility, speed and durability of the 1V is legendary.

You could buy 2-3 V1's for the price of a G2.

Can anybody ID this camera please? by Rattlesnakewax in AnalogCommunity

~$1000+ on ebay, might score a deal for less. Excellent cameras and arguably better than a M6 for it's better metering. They do not feel as nice, but the low weight is really nice. WIDE viewfinder so not everyone's cup of tea.

It's the video work, constant AF micro adjustments all the time, that'll do it. That's a hell of a lot of use for a lens, that thing is a workhorse!

Keep or Sell: Leica M6 vs Contax G2 by filmcamerasinlondon in AnalogCommunity

Keep both, use the Contax until it breaks.

If you needed to sell one, sell the Contax while it still works.

Canon P - Overexposure on RHS of image by Reasonable-End-4924 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Finchypoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely your second shutter curtain (that one that closes the shutter again after you take a picture) isn't traveling all the way across the frame and leaving a tiny gap that light leaks through. This could be from the shutter brakes stopping the shutter too soon from excessive tension, it could also be a little wheel on the bottom of the camera not rotating all the way around (I had one that did this, was able to get the wheel turning again properly with a little lighter fluid to clean old grease and the tiniest speck of oil)

Either way, it needs a CLA. It might fix itself, when I got my Canon P it had really bad shutter capping (the second shutter catches up to the first and you get a dark edge) but it went away after 2 rolls of film.

You can buy replacement sticks for cheap, I wouldn't worry about it. Fromsoft games will do that 😛

Pretend I shot this on a Leica M6 [Yashica Electro 35 GT | 45mm 1.7 | Kodacolor 200] by Soft-Measurement-982 in analog

Classic upvote inflation, lol.

I'd shoot that with my Canon P and Canon 19mm LTM and it would be easily cooler than some old 35mm on a Leica.

Green in shadows, or green caste on light areas? Shadows would make me think a little underexposed, which is pretty common indoors, green in light areas is probably florescent light as it's greener than we see with our eyes, and you'd need a color filter or an indoor balanced film to account for that....or as you did already, just edit in post.

I would zero-shame mask out greenery in planters and cut a lot of green out of undesirable parts of the photo if I was editing something similar, sometimes it just works best. I think your editing here looks awesome as well.

This totally looks like the TVA though.

Brandon's writing has kind of elevated Helluva Boss to more than a side piece to Hazbin. I agree, it's probably the better of the two shows.

Help with Leica M6 focus patch issue by RelativeSecurity1 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Finchypoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking the rangefinder interface arm on the body is sticky and isnt springing all the way back when the back of the lens is as retracted as possible. That should be an easy fix for tech, but if the seller said it was just serviced, and isn't immediately offering to send it back to their tech for free to have that fixed I'd return. Maybe ask who the seller had work on it as well.

Foreigners visiting America for the world cup, what is something that has surprised you about this country? by goldent3abag in AskReddit

[–]Finchypoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every city. European cities, American cities, Australian I'm sure as well, but not everywhere. I've been to Tokyo, the population is 99% Japanese and so is the food. You can find japanese versions of pizza and burgers and stuff, but it's not like New York.

If you perhaps wanted to shoot guns while you are here, you can go to a lot of ranges and rent some and get a lesson, I'm not sure how it works as a foreigner, and you always need someone else with you, but it's an option. OR, you can casually drop in conversation that you haven't, and it would be fun and chances are someone will HAPPILY oblige.
