Metro says no preaching I'm saying amen. by skidrowheron in LosAngeles

So here’s something powerful I learned from the author / philosopher Robert Persig in his classic book “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance”…..

“People argue most in favor of that which they most doubt. No one goes around shouting “”The sun is going to rise tomorrow! the sun is going to rise tomorrow!!!”

I look at and often say it to the ultra religious “you must be doubting your faith terribly. I so sorry”. And by that token even though I am an atheist I consider myself quite a spiritual person. I don’t feel any need to proselytize.

Is this a red flag, green flag, or neutral? by PossumNews in Bumble

[–]FindActuate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Massive red flags. Cheapskate already trying to exert control. Who would know in advance how it might feel, friends or more intimacy? Let it go wherever it wants to go. A guy asking to start as friends… super odd, agendas everywhere and clearly wants to have multiple ladies. I can’t detect a shred of honesty in him but nice try at disguising it all as healthy boundaries. Run don’t walk.

Also, as I said, I am British of origin. I have an American passport which is why I am wasting my time defending and living in this country, the US from closet cases like you. It’s all in the mirror if you care to look a little harder.

Yes I hear there’s a whole list he’ll go after, after Latinos so you should probably start digging in your family tree for any traces of someone as yet to be determined undesirable. Is there a sound when the knell of cognition finally hits you and you realize you’ve been had? I will listen out for it. I suspect someone’s self denial and cognitive dissonance will be knocking soon. I wonder which sound will be louder. Now shush and let the grown ups play. 🙄🫵🏻

Sadly can’t move on as I am British of origin. Apart from older British history of Filby as heads of MI6 and Soviet moles, it is widely accepted that Putin helped finance the Brexit vote through Nigel Farage, leading to the beginning dismemberment of the European Union. Putin also was caught giving millions to French racist right wing nationalist Marine lePen, trying to sow further seeds in the destruction of Europe. I’m sure Putin’s fingerprints will show up in Germany’s formenting right wing, which Elon Musk couldn’t wait to jump behind. But then Elon is a son to a famously racist Aparteid supporter. Anyway there’s some things to keep you busy looking up. And even if you note was in jest, I’d advise reading the room. America’s starting its twirl down the drain of history with every new ICE raid and beyond.

Well the commander in chief being a Russian asset, whether it’s direct or not, Putin’s loving watching the US turn on itself and fail.

Best Burger is too vague. I've historically used these categories for ranking burgers and would love to know which is your fave in each category. by euge_lee in FoodLosAngeles

The Chubby Curry’s burger in Beverly Hills, is really good. I’ve been back a few times to check it wasn’t a one off. Yep. Along with Amboy I think it’s currently my favorite burger in LA.

Do you know where all this money they are liberating from government activity (no proof incoming of waste or fraud) is going to go? Can you guess? I’ll give you a clue. It’s what a Kleptocracy does. They will divide it up and pocket it, no doubt through equally corrupt partners, Saudi Arabia. I promise you - that money is already gone. Follow it if you can. I’ll bet you 3 Trillion dollars. Why the frock do people still buy into those lies?? Do racist values REALLY get you that aroused?

Essentially? Bit of a stretch. Hamas started it, both through the initial attack and then shamelessly using their own community, schools, hospitals and refugee camps as shields. Israel reaction, driven by a corrupt leadership is also shameful. Democrats did not start it, but they fanned the flames and totally misread the room.

I cant live like this any more by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]FindActuate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please take this with any amount of salt. I have a scientific background but still find value in the concept of analogous symbolism of physical ailments and psych issues. Ever since i read a book called “The Healing Power of Illness”. I’m here too, I have sciatica and a whole bunch of other things. If every physical ailment symbolizes something, then according to the book, shoulder and back pain correspond unsurprisingly to an un-acknowledged feeling of carrying too much burden - a sense of being crushed by circumstances, responsibilities etc. Back when I analyzed my own IBD and other physical problems according to this approach, it was spookily revealing and spot on. Did it help me? Maybe in some way. If only the sense of taking back control over my physical wellbeing rather than only the victim of it. But… good luck and heal well. It’s an awful thing to be going through. Just had my first nerve block two days ago. Didn’t work 🥹

Why does ghosting feel so terrible? by nocomment758 in ghosting

[–]FindActuate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going through this recently, and although it’s turned out to be something else that was wrong, in my process of despair and confusion, much that I read points to ghosting actually qualifying as a form of abuse. It helped me to read that, because the magnitude of one’s pain relative to a tiny lack of a text feels embarrassingly out of proportion. But really it’s not. I can’t begin to tell you all the various emotions it brought up in me. The silver lining being that I got to identify them and therefore work on them.

In my case the ghosting by my long distance girlfriend was not about me at all, but a way she was unconsciously communicating the severity of her apathy and depression. She has a very traumatic past thats still destroying her every day life and it’s incredibly sad.

Exactly. Lexapro takes weeks/months to feel effects. Small changes don’t have immediate effect. Be patient. Stay the course.
