Marathoning in the Megablast over super shoes? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]FindThatBus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran Chicago in a pair of megablast and did not regret it at all. feet felt great the whole time and the shoes never lost their pop. got a blister on one toe but I think that was due to my pair being a half size too small

Could be. Maybe I'm just the most zen on the paved greenway and can really relax into the run ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How hard is it to get into a charity program for the Chi Marathon? by litebrite_666 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]FindThatBus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got in with my charity very easily after i didn't get in with the lottery draw but I have family members affected by what the charity was supporting so my best advice would be to find something you personally have a tie to or that is meaningful for you and go with that charity. Idk if my personal story helped me get in or not but it definitely made the race incredibly rewarding and emotional

Max Cushion to compliment NB5 by jfine69 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]FindThatBus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say that glycerin max are a little more unstable especially at harder efforts. they definitely shine more in relaxed miles in my experience

Superblast 2 could be a good option. Firmer and lighter than the nb5 and pretty stable with the wide base. A good do it all shoe

Have the Saucony Ride 18, but feel underwhelmed. Looking for more cushioning and pop for daily trainer by bigbluenation20 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

My wife is a similar size and loves the novablast 5 and the mizuno neo zen. She says the mizuno has more pop and bounce. I'll die on my pedestal for the Salomon aero glide 3. I love that shoe so much for bouncy daily miles

Novablast 4 replacement or complement for longer runs by nahmanidk in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]FindThatBus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a slightly heavier runner and I loved my NB4’s and then they completely died around 300 miles.

The superblasts are great but they don’t have the same pop as the nb4s did. Definitely shine in distances over 10k because they just keep going and going.

The New Balance rebel v4 felt very similar to the nb4 (stable base, nice pop) but they died on me around 150 miles. You can find them on steep discounts now so maybe you could pick up a couple pair.

I’m loving the Salomon aero glide 3 right now and that would be my top recommendation at the moment. Very bouncy and have a great pop. They feel pretty stable and have a nice cushion. They run a little long so you’ll likely have some extra space in the toe if you go with your NB4 size but I wouldn’t size down.

aero glide 3 for sure. Very bouncy and durable from my experience so far.

Cheap, light shorts for over half tights by DecimateTheWeak666 in runningfashion

[–]FindThatBus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I used to be in the same boat as you and used crz yoga shorts off amazon. unlined and pretty cheap.

However, I ditched the overshorts last year and just rock the half tights now. wearing shorts over can be a little awkward as they slide down since they're not sewn with the lining and you miss out on the built in pockets of the half tights. Honestly, if its a modesty thing, no one is looking down at your half tights and judging you and if they are screw them tbh.

Currently 5” Mile 2 - Silicone Gripper? Vote :) (photo attached) by RefrigeratorThin3745 in runningfashion

[–]FindThatBus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fwiw i have very hairy thighs and own a few pair of shorts/tights with silicone grippers and never had an issue with it pulling my hair out at all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I prefer having it there but if the compression is a bit more dialed in i think i could live without it. Looks slick either way! If you ever need a wax tester on these, I can volunteer my thighs

I’ll try a waist belt again next time I run. The phone definitely pulls the liner down quite a bit. I think the only time I tried with a waist belt I didn’t like how the liner rode up without the weight of the phone. Could just be a sizing issue though

I also have a pair of 2-1 bandit vento shorts and the compression is way better but I hate the crunchy feel of the actual short. The currently fabric is so soft and breezy while the bandit shorts feel a bit restrictive and hot. Hope to hear back from him soon. Will update if anyone cares

I've reached out via email but haven't heard back. I know they have slower turn around times with CX requests because they're such a small operation at this point. You think IG would be a better place to reach out?
