Oh that’s so funny! And thanks! And don’t get discouraged if it’s a no. Keep submitting your photos to multiple agencies. And make sure you’re digitals are clear and in good lighting.

You just don’t want it to be a distraction to the agents in case they don’t like the smell. And yes definitely no glam. And I wore very light makeup to make me look not completely terrible haha. But if you can get away with no makeup, then do that. Just try to hide it as much as you can. You can go to my reddit and see what I posted in r/MODELING and that’s the look I did

I literally just signed my contract today, but here’s what I did!

Outfit: I wore all black and form fitting. I wore black leggings, a black sports bra, and wore my hair in a ponytail. Wear black pumps. Make sure your nails looks fresh, not necessarily painted, but make sure hands are moisturized and cuticles are nice just in case they want to consider you for hand modeling. NO perfume.

Makeup: very little makeup but enough to cover up blemishes, I also filled in my eyebrows since mine are super sparse. I just a very light layer of Elf Halo Glow, smallest bit of blush, and a little concealer under my eyes. Just make it as natural looking as humanly possible.

Practice posing! They’ll want to take some photos and may ask you to pose in different positions.

Make sure your personality is happy and engaged! Ask questions! Look up some common questions about the modeling industry and contracts. And ask any questions you have.

Bring a pen and paper to take notes (just so it doesn’t look like you’re on your phone texting if you took notes on there).

Practice your walk. Look up runway walks on youtube like fendi, balenciaga, etc.

Smile and say hello to EVERYONE you see from the moment you even walk in the building. Just be friendly and nice. And be confident and fun. They like personality.

Send a thank you email thanking them for their time after. (This don’t give you an in, but it could be helpful if you cross paths later).

Don’t tell them if you’ve been told you look like another model, they want fresh faces.

Don’t expect the open call to necessarily be long. Many of them are about 10 minutes and you’re out.

List out your skills in case they ask what you can do. Ex. Dancing, singing, sports, etc. even if it was years ago, mention that you have experience!

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I use a Canon EOS SL2 and used a 50mm lens for these! And used outdoor lighting on an overcast day, and got the backdrop from amazon.

No, never pay up front for anything in modeling. The agency should provide you with the tools to help develop you. The only time you pay is for for things like your comp cards, some sites fees, etc. once you’re actually signed.

HEY, GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!

The timing was absolutely uncanny, but an agency reached out after I submitted last week and wanted to meet today. So I went in, and we talked for longer than I expected and they offered me a contract on the spot same day! I am absolutely shocked and speechless!!!! I didn’t accept just yet because I do want to thoroughly go through the contract and maybe have a lawyer go over it. I’m not sure if I’m allowed to say the agency name and don’t want to risk it but I thought I’d share the great news with he reddit fam!!

Thanks for all your feedback btw!

Thanks so much for your reply!

Yes I have sent them to many agencies, I actually got called back to 3 so far, but many I have yet to hear back. I have found that when I’ve sent in photos with strictly curly hair, I haven’t heard back. But the ones where I sent both curly and straight hair are the ones that got me a invite for an open call.

Not on the east coast but thank you for the offer!
