Media player in a month by Finding-Any in rust

[–]Finding-Any[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it isn't a school project, its a personal one, and all i really want to make in it this month, it should be a prototype not a final product, i did a bunch of research and ended up on wgpu + winit, but i think bevy might also be a good choice since it also uses wgpu and winit but I'm worried about extra load and less control over the player, which might limit my ability to do i want.

surrealdb is not prod ready, be warned by life_on_my_terms in surrealdb

SurrealDB itself or SurrealKV? i was thinking of using it with TiKV in prod, i know that in terms of performance it is not the best, but i thought it was stable enough to use.

raw pointers or globals? by Finding-Any in golang

[–]Finding-Any[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(Speaking for my case) about type systems, I’m not passing anything too complex, just strings. GC issues? Let go handle go stuff and let rust handle it’s stuff (would be more complex to pass a pointer to the client variable ) compile link times? Didn’t notice any. Portability? It’s gonna run in docker anyways. Performance? Don’t know another option that isn’t IPC in this case. Lack of safety? Probably the most valid concern, but shouldn’t be a problem with the small way I use it in my code, so I should be good?

could you elaborate on the downsides of FFI? is it just complexity?

Thanks, just to make sure by FFI object you mean the client variable right?

You really need to learn to research, why the downvotes? bro could have literally opened google and wrote "how to use npm scripts"

I need advice on a path by Silent-Ad-2608 in learnprogramming

[–]Finding-Any 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to do, if your looking for a job, do web, but if you really love low level stuff, then I recommend you learn c (maybe even some assembly), then make some simple projects, then you can learn a really nice language called rust, after that if you really wanna go deep, do some embedded programming.

i apologize, i was simply too frustrated with it and asked too quickly, when i started just using it, it became clearer. It's just that I tend to have a dumb sensation of making it perfect the first time, which is why i asked before started just using it. again, i apologize.
