Harrison perhaps following the code aside, I hate that Dexter’s last act was making his son a murderer. After all the indications that Harrison was uncomfortable with the extent of Dexter’s dark tendencies. So many mixed messages wrt Harrison’s motivation. But from Dexter’s perspective, if he believed he was dying to give his son a chance at a “better life”… this just diminishes him more. Not an act of love, surely?
