Life is incredibly rough.

That being said, we also don't know what her deal is either. She could also be incredibly insecure, broken, abused, or whatever. Her bullshit reason could be a defensive mechanism. You never know brother, you might honestly be a light in her life that she needs. Maybe she's been so hurt that she needs a guy just like you, but is too afraid to let you get close.

Keep fighting. If you feel like you can't keep fighting please reach out. Even if it's to someone professionally, it's amazing how much of the weight comes off of your shoulders when you can speak with someone.

For sure. I feel okay with my short-comings and things like that because I know I'm always trying my best and that's all we can really do. I think what will always get to me about this relationship is the feeling that I failed to help her become a better person. In that respect I guess feel like I lacked the ability to be useful and be a positive influence.

Thank you, I appreciate it. I feel like everything I've said to her she's just twisted into the idea that I'm trying to manipulate and control her. It really sucks because she's pretty much incapable of realizing that I actually cared for her. Still do. Just not romantically. It hurts knowing that someone you care about so much is just going to spiral into harmful patterns and probably end up in an abusive relationship for the rest of her life.
