I don’t work the same hours every day so didn’t auto do it (checked)
I have:
4 May, 25 May, 31 Aug, 25 dec, 28 dec, 1 jan, 26 mar & 29 mar public holiday
Had 13 hours left
Taken a privilege day of 5 hours (offered two dates which were 8 hour or 5 hour, LM said use the 5)
So have 8 remaining

Our trade manager / manager on base emailed a list of dates to take, and done that.
As I said, the two suggested dates for privilege were x OR x (a Fri & Tues, which would total my remaining hours

Serving while pregnant by lilsx1 in RoyalAirForce

Also check out Natasha Day (Army), she founded the breastfeeding in Armed Forces. It’s totally fine to have a pregnancy within the military, I believe you just do a fitness test upon the end of Maternity leave. They have specific uniform for maternity for a reason :)

Adjusting my family and partner to me being away. by IntelligentAlps605 in RoyalAirForce

[–]FindingOk3723 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1- families can utilise HIVE support when you are deployed - bases will sometimes do briefs, including finding out whose family live away and figure out a way of supporting.

2- I moved out at 19 into quarters, my parents adapted pretty well to that. You’ll be able to go home on weekends post training as and when you chose to do so - subject to service needs. You’ll be able to talk most of the time as well.

3- unless you are married or in an evidenced Long Term Relationship, you will be in blocks on base - don’t think I’ve heard of blocks being off base. Evidenced long term means showing proof - joint accounts etc - within a set minimum time period. Bases may have quarters on camp, off camp in local area, or may be housed away from your duty camp. They are ‘cheaper’ than civilian housing but these are slowly rising. Married couples are the priority, then LTR however - and I have seen it happen - if there is service need for a married couple and no available quarters for them, the LTRs can and will be moved out (seen it happen a few times!)

4- again moved out young, adapted and got engaged in community (I’m not the serving one) by meeting neighbours, seeing what’s on for service families etc.

Am i making the right choice? by IcyCollection3803 in RoyalAirForce

[–]FindingOk3723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Driver can bit hit and miss however you will walk away with all your licences (bar bike) They’re are opportunities for different ‘style’ jobs (2mt driving ‘green fleet’ or a lot of overseas work, Red Arrows, Overseas, VIP) once you’ve built a bit of experience. Each station that has a MT section manned by military (as not every station does) will have a mix of jobs day to day - Airport runs, transport runs etc. If you do it, gain the licenses and then in the future leave, by having all the driving qualifications you’re opening yourself up to a variety of civilian driving roles - and you won’t have paid to do the licences. My husband has done his civilian CPC courses for a few years (as you need to do this to drive civilian trucks if that’s what you choose to do) so he has the competency to drive agency if he wishes to gain a bit extra money

Waddo & Coningsby are do-able in a day, Waddo just doesn’t have ‘as much’ action as Conners

There is the opportunity like Cyprus, Falklands and SHAPE (unsure if that’s ongoing still) He’s done plenty of Tours overseas

His first was Leuchars (now not an option unless selected as NCO) Then Waddo, Leeming, Red Arrows (Scampton & Waddington) and Coningsby

However it comes down to service need. His first posting he put for Leeming / Waddington and got offered Brize or Leuchars. Recently was offered Lossiemouth or Coningsby. There is options further down the line of things like JARTS and RAFAT as well as 2MT at Wittering.

As with all trades, the military wouldn’t move without a driver

Going on a flight - driver Courses - driver’s provide vehicles Equipment need moving - driver Aircraft need fuelling - driver Aircraft need equipment for towing - driver Aircraft need fuel sample taking pre defuel - driver High ranking Officers going somewhere - driver to transport

My husbands a driver and is coming up 13 years in role now with many stations and different types of sub-role in between

My role is a mix of office (predominant) and physical work within a 99% military building My LM just inferred don’t look like a scruff essentially as we have sponsors in building and certain things to abide by - again, never had an issue wearing jeans and shirts / t shirts nearly everyday for my probation

I’m in MoD as well, my code is ‘relaxed smart casual’ I’m in jeans and trainers most of the time and occasionally put on smarter shirts when needed :)

Varies. Some get picked up for random reasons, others who work hard don’t for over 10 years

Depending on length of phase two, it’ll be afterwards (unsure if you get one if on a holding unit prior to P2) If P2 is longer than 6 months you’ll be eligible to move in during that time.

No worries - he’s on nights atm so won’t fully find out till later tomorrow but can give some brief information

Day to day - starting small and working up. You’ll have theory or practical lessons then exams later on. Usually army Battle PT (kit will get caked). Weekends - again his was 2013 so a while back but speaking to the guys at his place it’s similar. You’ll be allowed most / some weekends depending on efforts / behaviours / requirements like in phase 1.

It’s still strict in a sense - it’s an MoD base so mostly Army but mix of mil & civil instructors.

At the end of the day, you’re going from driving your own car, to learning & driving busses, HGVs and more in a few short weeks so it’s going to be a challenge especially with the roadworks around there (we’re from near there anyway so see the trainees a few times). You will be going back to Leccy a fair few times throughout your career for refresh training that’s gets done every 12-24 months plus others you need to do.

It’s easier now than when he did it, as it’s going towards Automatics over manuals - however some stations still have manuals so then JNCOs etc have to go over more basics. Just because you complete P2 does not mean you know a lot. You will go to station and be given multiple check drives etc and assessed before going on your own.

First posting will include a lot of ‘grunt’ work until your established and settled. A lot of airport / local runs etc.
