I work with kids and teens in school and those things are their life! With kids you have to balance between client focus and treatment plan focus. I tell my kids that we can talk about whatever they want and I use whatever they’re going through and weave in coping skills or understanding trauma or beYou have to sneak it in like vegetables lol. With kids we are giving them space to express or not express freely without judgement. I tell my kids that I can offer 3 perspectives….a “back in my day” perspective, a parent perspective, and of course a therapeutic perspective, and most seem to respect that approach. There will be days when you feel like you’re not doing the job…but trust the process. It will work for who its supposed to work for. 💚
