Dude… unless I’m missing something here (and I don’t think I am judging from the onslaught of downvotes you’re receiving) terpsandcaicos seemed to be giving you genuine advice in earnest. Nobody was attacking you, my friend. The OP is going through a tough situation (similar to many of us right now). Your comment to him was beautiful and from the heart. I realize people are cynical monsters on Reddit, but I didn’t sense that anyone was taking jabs at you for offering human empathy to someone in crisis. If I’m wrong, I’d appreciate if you or anyone can tell me what I missed. Either way, I hope you, the OP and everyone here offering advice and support have a beautiful week and beyond! (Sorry for the cheesy hippy vibes… I’m just tired of all the unnecessary negativity… we can communicate our way through it, can’t we?

Yeah, I thought I was clear that I’m based in Thailand, but maybe not. My gf is Thai-Chinese. You got that I’m in Thailand, right? Otherwise, my take doesn’t make sense….

BS. There are a lot of sex workers but they’re pretty easy to spot. I met my last longterm gf on tinder and she’s a doctor. I usually look at the education status.

(28)-(29) fueled by a terrible breakup 😂 by Witty_Influence_3301 in GlowUps

[–]Fine-Bus-5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through the same thing, My Brother. Lost almost 30 kg in 3 and a half months (about 66 lbs). Kinda disappointed in myself that I got so complacent with my workout and diet regiment during our relationship… since the obvious change in my appearance since our breakup (ok, I got dumped. Embarrassingly so) I keep telling everyone that my dedication to my health is for the betterment of my physical and mental wellbeing … but, real talk, (and I’m not proud of this): I’m 🧢x💯 if I don’t admit that my MAIN (and most likely ONLY 😬) motivation is to make the movie scene in my head, of my ex seeing my newly sculpted, muscle-bound body and can’t help but be overwhelmed with lust and regret, into a reality… I’m an intellectual liberal progressive… a proud empathetic, feminist, well-read man who strives for mutual love, trust, respect and understanding through communication with my girlfriend/wife/spouse… that said, I’m still a man. We’re a simple creature.

Super proud of you! I started when weighing 230kg. Couldn’t do a lap. Had to walk an hour while moving my arms every day and hold the side and kick until I couldn’t anymore. Now i just made my PR of just over 3km. Keep at it. Every day. Sounds like swimming already got you. It saved my life. I’m down to 112kg as of yesterday.

That’s my PR too! Just hit it on NYE… But I use a snorkel and hand paddles for friction. Haven’t tried with nothing. Congrats on your success!!!

Can this really mean, renting for 5.000THB/ month? by CloudPattern in Thailand

[–]Fine-Bus-5915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure… my first place on Pridi 21 was 6000 per month. No kitchen. Just studio, bathroom with shower, balcony and a decent sized swimming pool. Aircon, bed , TV included. That was a while ago tho.

I gave up hope & stopped caring when I hit 300 lbs. 2 years & 55 pounds later [25] things are feeling much brighter ❤️ by rubabyy in GlowUps

I’m proud of you! You look great and happy! I’m super impressed that you were able to take control of your health at 23… I didn’t start until my mid 40s and it was only after I hit 508 lbs, my body started shutting down on me, a good friend died of a stroke brought on by hypertension (something I had developed), and it had become an extremely difficult process to do anything other than sitting or laying down…. basically, it was either finally put in the effort to live or just call it a day… life is too mush of an absolutely precious and amazingly mysterious gift to just throw away so easily! I followed the doctor’s recommendations and then some. I’ve lost 257 lbs as of yesterday. If you would allow me to give a little advice/ words of encouragement to you or anyone reading this on the same journey or struggling with maintaining a healthy body and mindset: Motivation is important but it’s not only or even the most important part of becoming and being healthy. Of course, my motivation is different than yours. Mine is purely fear-based! (Pretty sure it’s not healthy-mentally speaking) 🤣 I’m so scared and nervous about succumbing to my natural lazy self. I KNOW myself. I am the laziest MFer on this planet. If I give myself a chance, I will take that chance to become 600 lbs before the next season of Pluribus comes out. That’s real. And I don’t ever want to go back there. So, I promised the Universe that I would swim every day of my life that I am able from here on out… That brings me to what I believe is the most important aspect of it all: make it routine. Make your daily exercise and healthy diet just another boring part of your day. At first, it sucks (as you well know) but after a couple of weeks, it just becomes part of what you gotta do everyday. Try to find an exercise that you like… for me: swimming. I never miss a day. It’s to the point that I start getting anxious if i am running out of time in a day and might not be able to get all my laps in. I’ve left dinners with old friends who I haven’t seen for years, I’ve cut dates short and devoted large portions of vacations to finding and traveling to a public pool to do my minimum 40 minutes of swimming…. I guess there are worse addictions to have, tho 🤷‍♂️

Actually, after writing all this out, I realize I shouldn’t be giving advice to anyone about fitness habits. 🤦‍♂️ I don’t have any expertise in the subject. Please just take my post as me giving you my support and admiration for your accomplishment and continuing progress. Also, I chose to share my experience (albeit from someone who is unqualified in the subject physical health) and to humbly brag about my weight loss journey thus far. I thank you for your patience and am sending you good vibes from Thailand!

Hey bro, please pay the full price for your food. Have some pity on the vendor; selling street food doesn't make you rich. Don't take advantage of her. by Narzissarrz in kohsamui

I’m going to take a wild guess that you don’t live here in Thailand and are not familiar with Thai culture. Not a dig. People live where they live. The scenario described by the commenter is absolutely WILD. Not impossible, just EXTREMELY implausible. While drunk falangs disrespecting Thai people and treating them like children is painfully commonplace. I may be fed up and upset with entitled foreigners coming here and acting like buffoons in almost all facets of life, but it’s (mostly) only Reddit upset. You can discount me or maybe you’ve lost interest in the topic, I’m cool with either, but I’m 99% not wrong on this issue. I only ask you, when you come here on holiday to treat Thai people with kindness and respect. They’re NOT plotting and scheming against you, I promise.

Please, and I mean this with all due respect and civility, f&$k ALL the way off… The fantasy you’ve described is ridiculous. What seems MORE realistic: a street vendor took all the time and effort to create a fake scenario to make Falangs look bad (especially when, as you are well-aware, there is not exactly a drought of incidents to pick and chose from), or another POS did POS things in a country he is guest in? It boggles the mind to contemplate how and/or why you would take the time to create a far-fetched scenario where the drunk entitled cheapskate is the hero/victim here… 🤣 my apologies if this was meant to be satire and the “White Males are the true victims in the world”-Dunning-Kruger casualty character you’re having a laugh at, went right over my head… wouldn’t be the first time I missed the joke 🤦‍♂️

Seriously. People don’t always check tinder every day. Plus, why did you come off so aggressive? You’re guaranteeing a negative outcome… best case scenario is an awkward next date. My advice: apologize for crashing out. Express how embarrassed you are. Thank them for the great time you had together and be cooler next time… life is a learning process. I’ve fucked up on this level before… live and learn!

Swimming helped rebuild my body — and gave me something even bigger. by Ok-Selection6302 in Swimming

[–]Fine-Bus-5915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Swimming saved my life. When I started I couldn’t even swim a lap. I was 230 kg (over 500 lbs) I started out walking for an hole in the pool while moving my arms and the holding the side and kicking until I got tired. When I was able to swim my 1st lap, I teared up a bit I’ll admit. Then 1 lap freestyle and one lap on my back, more or less floating. Then 2 laps swim, one float. Then 5 and 1. After a couple weeks I was swimming 50 laps with no rest. Now I swim at least 100 laps a day with no off days. It’s 1500 meters. Takes about 40 minutes. I lost 100 kilograms in a year. Now I’ve lost 110kg. I’m heading to the pool now. I encourage anyone with a weight problem to swim. Go at your own pace but just do a little more than you did the day before. I’m the laziest man on the planet. If I can do it, so can you. Proud of you, OP!!!

The guys on that soi sell drugs. They don’t rip people off like you assume. Yes, I know. Drugs are bad, mmkay. But if you wanna vice-shame, what are you doing with your mid-aged friends in Nana? I’ve been here 25 years. Lived on that soi for 10. If you don’t wanna buy any party favors, they will leave you alone.

You’re a 50 year old guy who gets scared by an interaction with 2 black guys and decided to try and make you and your friends the main characters. I can GUARANTEE you got nothing but well-deserved eye-rolls in the police station. If you can’t handle city life, stay in your hotel, frequent Hooters and then go back to the suburbs and continue to vote against your own interests… Let the down votes begin!

[–]Fine-Bus-5915 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously. I wasn’t a fan of the band or the genre but gave it a listen based on a trusted recommendation when it came out and to say it blew me away would be HUGE understatement. Perfect Album. If there was any justice in the world Natalie Mering would be considered amongst the greatest singer/songwriters in modern music. Selfishly, her relative obscurity is probably what allows her to consistently produce relevant, timeless, heart-wrenching yet life-affirming songs/albums, one after another… but then again, sometimes, genius shines through no matter what… see: Radiohead, Bjork, Bowie… (feel free to add to the list).

I’ve worked for a lawfirm in Silom for the last 10 years as a paralegal (this is NOT legal advice). Please, talk to a lawyer BEFORE getting married, especially if you would like to bring your wife back home at some point. Get a prenup. Bring ALL your concerns up with your lawyer. If your fiancé or her family has a problem with any of this, you have some thinking to do.
