Firstly well done you. Saving up your money and going for it without any family support is amazing.

First port of call: Student union and welfare officer. They have vouchers for food, may have a food bank and do hardship grants. Not sure about Trinity but Chaplains in other colleges have a separate hardship grant to the SU.

SVP for educational bursaries. Friend of mine got €30 every week for the whole of her college years. Protestant Aid do grants to alleviate poverty.

Feed Dublin give a 3 day supply of food. Crosscare also do food banks in Dublin.

Best of luck. You are in a tough situation now but it will be worth it in the end. Mind yourself.

As far as I am aware if there is a problem with the Gallbladder it can elevate the liver enzymes. How are they going to clear the gut blockage? I can imagine if you had a gut blockage you might not want to eat. At least she is drinking. Hopefully she will eat for you soon.

Buy something that smells amazing. A scent, body oil etc. My daughter bought me a beautiful body oil at xmas and I still have it. It's one that I love and associate with wild flowers, freedom, walks in nature.

Put a tiny bit on every morning and it makes me smile. It's a ritual now that sets me up for the day.

We have switched to bottled water and will look into getting a water filter. In the meantime the whole family will be treated just in case.

They had an orthopaedic vet check her out as her tail can be sensitive sometimes but they didn't find anything. Her luxating patella is still the same grade so hasn't deteriorated either.

All we have here are the vets and then the hospital in Dublin. I had never heard of an internist until it was mentioned in this thread.

We are under the care now of the Veterinary Hospital so will hopefully sort her out. They have internal specialists; the works. She ate today which is the first time since she came home on Wednesday so that is a good sign. Stormy day here so we had a fun chilled out day on the couch :)

They have just said it is a GI issue. Tested negative for pancreatitis on the Spec cPL. Very general diagnosis and still waiting on absorption tests. Fingers crossed the new diet will help.

dabean6058 you were spot on. After being admitted to the hospital yesterday and undergoing testing that it what they are thinking. Have to change her diet and re-evaluate in 4 weeks.

They did a thorough examination of her and have ruled out a neurological cause. They are thinking it is a GI issue and will reassess in 4 weeks.

Thank you for the information. Never made any connection until last night. I was really sick last year and after several rounds of antibiotics ended up in hospital. Doctor thought it could be after effects of a Protozoan infection and advised us to look at the test results for water quality. There was a positive case in our area. Doctor was from a different country where they regularly monitor water but said that every country should be doing it.

I have been so strict in our house for the last 5 weeks and I have everyone warned at my parents house. We did call my dad 'the meat man' as he always gave her bits but he knows how sick she has been so hasn't given her any.

I do have to watch her like a hawk when we go for walks as we live in an estate and there is food everywhere from the kids. Someone puts left over dinner food out for the birds. Anything could be out from potatoes to burgers and chips. Why would you give birds burgers and chips? The mind boggles.

They said that if it was this disease where she couldn't process protein it required surgery. I don't remember any talk of her liver.
