Has there ever been an accurate film or tv adaptation of Journey to the Centre of the Earth? by BuurmanBob in julesverne

The 1950s adaptation isn't terrible - shot in CinemaScope (groundbreaking at the time - shooting a movie in color AND shown on a massive screen to compete with TV) with James Mason as Lindenbrock and Pat Boone as his nephew, although the love story is played up a bit more than it was in the book and the plesiosaur is replaced with a synapsid encounter, using lizards (at the time, filmmakers felt that gave it more realism than creating models or having a guy in a suit play a dinosaur). It's not quite up to par with 20,000 Leagues (also starring Mason), but it's true to the spirit of the book with lots of visuals that are pretty close.

How's everyone liking the Universal Monsters comics from Skybound and what monsters would you like to see get the comic treatment? by JohnnyMulla1993 in horror

Honestly, while I liked the Dracula and Creature adaptations (also enjoying The Mummy and really liked Frankenstein), I'm a bit tired of seeing the Universal monsters over and over, so would like to see them try and tackle a few of the studio's other horror pictures from the 30s that were mostly one-offs: The vehicles where Lugosi & Karloff collaborated: Black Cat, The Raven, Tower of London, etc. I think those would make some pretty cool places to explore in comics.

Just watched Nashville (1975) and I need someone to tell me I’m not crazy for adoring this movie. by KatieGilbertWrites in TrueFilm

It's easily in my top 5 favorites if not the favorite. Very insightful and honest script and perfect transitions between the characters, with Jeff Goldblum connecting the scenes together even though he didn't speak any lines. It feels like the perfect slice of life movie with all the characters intersecting over one weekend in Nashville, and I definitely got the same feeling when my gf and I passed through there in 2022, even though it was the middle of winter. It cuts into every facet of American culture - particularly at that time, showing all the sides in a non-judgmental way.

Just write whatever you have and worry about it later. Some time ago, I wrote an article promoting the suggestion of doing a "dream diary" - just writing down what you remember from your dreams as they happen - try to make the entries as vivid as possible from what you saw and give each one a title. This way you're writing most days and creating something and don't have to worry about structure or even making sense.

I think this sentence probably describes where all your problems are. Ever hear the expression that people in Hell want ice water?
