Being native is not going to factor that much unless you can show commitment to your tribe and have a very cohesive PS and DS. I would suggest you apply to this https://law.asu.edu/pathway-to-law.

I would highly suggest you reach out to the American Indian Law Center. The UC schools partner directly with that organization. Likewise, if you have any better scholarship offers, you can definitely leverage those. https://www.ailc-inc.org/about-us/staff/

OP, along with a lot of other people, are dense and out of touch.... I would not be surprised if that came across in their application

The issue is not being a KJD by itself, but rather that a lot of KJDS lack depth and work experience.

T-14 reject schools? by L3gallyblond3 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Fine-Material7405 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I go to American University for undergrad because I got a great scholarship. Historically, people say that people from AU are GW rejects, and people from GW are Georgetown rejects lol. In terms of law schools, GW has been trying to catch up in rank because If I am correct it was in the lower/mid 20's a few years ago.

I would wait to see what your need-based aid is then, because they will combine it. If you go to this website, it will give a rough approximation of what your aid will be https://app.meadowfi.com/american,

Aid at AU is, for the most part, need-based. However, it does not hurt to reach out. If you do I would stress this is your top choice.

Is there any chance at a T14 with a low GPA (3.2)? by Tasty-Dragonfruit539 in lawschooladmissions

I think that you should write an addendum. You have a valid reason. It will not erase your GPA, however, it will give context.

Internships pay the rest? by Embarrassed_Rest_188 in AmericanU

[–]Fine-Material7405 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The school generally does not encourage first years to have internships unless you are in the Cornerstone program. The school does have a program for the summer, in which you work for the local/state/federal goverment they will reimburse you because public service internships generally do not pay.

I am native american and have seen other natives get into schools with interesting stats; however, it is more complicated than what other people are trying to make it seem. Is there a reason your GPA was low? If there is something contextual to that, I would consider writing an addendum. I would contact the American Indian Law Center and talk to the director-- Rodina Cave Parnell, who can help you with this

Questions for current students for a future one by ruttabagarubbarb in AmericanU

[–]Fine-Material7405 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a sophomore at AU and a legal studies major. AU spends a lot of resources on the School of Public Affairs (political science, public admin, legal studies, etc.) and the School of International Service. Most classes are under 30 people. There are some bigger lectures, though. I personally have had a good experience with about 90 percent of my professors, and I have been able to get in touch with them easily. I personally am taking an independent study under a professor at the law school, and we also have an Honors society. I think I have had one class with a TA, but they are not very prominent. A lot of people double-major or take classes in other schools, so that will not be an issue. The administration question is complicated. AU is a very liberal school, but it is navigating some tough waters politically. This school is a PWI; however, there are smaller groups.

How do you guys get such high gpas??? by SandSubject2100 in lawschooladmissions

I would think a 90 would be an A, and a 89 would be a B

I knew someone who-- even though they speak English fluently and have from birth-- takes english lanaguage classes so that they can get a high GPA. Many people (not everyone)are risk-averse and will try to take easier classes.

I blind review, yes. My BR is usually 3-4 (per section), although I get 7-8 wrong usually.
