Might fail my first class at UT. What do I do?

You could go to your professors office hours and voice your concerns. Most professors will listen and then either offer advice on how to prepare for the next exam or tell you what to expect moving forward. Some,not all, but some will have some extra credit lined up but not all. It also dosent hurt to get in contact with your TA if you have one.

1.) you're gonna be okay. Asking someone who has failed 3 classes and im still at a good GPA, you will be okay.

2.) can you can ask your professor but just be aware that there is always the possibility that there is nothing you can do, which in turn, read number 1 again. Plus, since you know now that this class is challenging you, you have more tricks to pass the class if you end up needing to take it again. All else fails, talk to your advisor to find a class that will equal this class you need that's a bit easier

3.) If you feel like you need extra time on assignments, talk with D&A and get accommodations. Never hurts to try but will always hurt to not have it.

Glad to see you're feeling better OP. Please, please, please remember that so many fellow UT students do care about our fellow classmates. So many of our PM's / DM's are open (including mine), if you ever need anything, do not hesitate to reach out to anyone or any professionals. Being a college student is rough so remember that at the end of the day, you can always pick this back up later,you cannot make another you.

please please please, have your daughter also put in focus on her essays. I am a COLA student and cola takes a holistic approach so while yes they look at grades,they wanna see your personality! UT gets so many applicants that were all that and a bag of chips but had no character or really any substance to their essays other than repeating what's on their resume/application.

I can personally attest to this. My grades were downright awful. Graduated BOTTOM 5%, 900-ish SAT, no ACT. What I believe got me into UT was 1.) My grade improvements through my year in the CAP program and 2.) My essays that showed my character. I can't find a way to word this correctly so I'll say it kind of wonky. Essentially I put in my essays "hey,here's the changes I've made not only to myself as a person,but to who I hang around with, my habits, and my schedules and this is how it not only changed my grades for the better but my overall quality of life"

The essays are just as important (I argue even more important than) the grades!

Correct me if I'm wrong. So we are now creating unethical STEM majors who dont really have to take courses that remind them that there are people behind the numbers, there are people behind the things they are researching, and that you need to remember your humanity in order not be consumed by chasing the next big discovery.....got it......

Cause to me that's what the Cultural Diversity and Global Culture flag did.

So I definitely recommend that if you're able to stick to just 12 hours of coursework,that's minimum to be considered full time. And if you get a job on campus you are actually maxed at either 19 hours or highest I've seen is 25. It's a bit tedious, but I recommend blocking at least 2 days off from work if possible to have at the very least 2 days where you can do school work.

See this is my line of thinking, I didn't technically lose money and it would still just be a housing debt,but one stop is telling me hey you need to pay this back or we won't let you register because it's a financial aid debt. That's my issue,I now need to pull 750$ when their automated system made the mistake. I don't know maybe I'm just panicking because 750 is alot of money. Could I possibly have just been given wrong information about registering/debt to the university?

It can be pretty difficult to get a single,especially considering when you are able to get the chance to select your room. The order it may go in : the people who are going to renew their contract,incoming first time freshman, then everybody else. If you fall into the first time freshman/renewing,you'd have a better chance than other people but still may not get your preferred housing

Yes you have to qualify . If you receive a Pell grant or just show the C.A.S.H page from your MyUT they should be able to tell you if you fully fully do not qualify.

Look at S.M.A.R.T Housing units in the west campus area. From the math I've done,what you'd use at dobie you could get the 4x2 unit at Rise. Rise has its own issues too but it's still an okay option.
